Yeah I honestly hate how he rips teams off in seemingly every trade he makes.

Sixers are gonna give up the Lakers first AND other 1st rd picks/assets just to move up 2 slots?

That's insane.

This kinda assures that Lonzo won't drop to us though because now even if the Lakers pass on Lonzo for Jackson, Ainge would likely just pick him up at #3 despite him not working out for them or whatever.

If Lonzo isn't there, I say we go Tatum 4, BPA 32, stash 54, and I'd still call that a nice day. :D

The worst part if Philly moves to #1, they'll probably use that Lakers unprotected pick to do so...the pick we traded them for Brandon **** Knight...ughhhhhh

that Knight deal is one of the worst trades in recent history

ugh

It felt like it, it still feels like it, but it probably isn't. In fact it could still end up working in our favor and it wouldn't even require a major miracle (just a little luck). Knight could surprise us all and outplay that pick or a GM out there that remembers his potential and looks at us like just another Sacramento (where careers go to die) might offer us a pick in the low 20's. And the Lakers could make just the right deals leading to a playoff berth this upcoming season, in which case it's pretty much a wash. But even if it goes the way it looks like it will (Philly gets a mid to late lottery pick), there have been far worse deals made in recent history.

It seems like the Boston board really wants Tatum if they move down to 3 (if they end up keeping the pick).

I have watched some Duke games and I was not impressed about Tatum's defense.

You just do not feel the possibility of elite defense in his prime. I think he is an average defender, neutral ...he is OK and probably he can be good in his prime.

Watching Isaac and Jackson you get the feeling that they can be game changers on defense. They are on another level IMO.

Tatum is a better scorer, that is for sure.

Yes, I was thinking Chicago probably wants Jackson. I actually asked on their forum who they'd want and they said Fox or Jackson but then ultimately said Jackson since it's easier to build around a wing than a PG and there are always loads of PGs around.

They do not know that #3 is probably for Chicago?

Sounds like they'd be pretty well protected. I am not sure how it would work if they added their own protection to the Lakers pick (since it is theirs no matter what)...they could say top 3 protected and will turn into a Philly future #1 if protection kicks in.

But think about how much more Fultz makes sense for Philly than anyone else. I think Monk would be a great fit, but Fultz is a better shooter anyway, and so much better at everything else.

If Simmons didn't work well running point or if he got injured again, you're covered.

A trade like that would be good for the Suns. The Celtics love Tatum. That drops Jackson or Ball to the Suns.

No chance that the Celtics take Tatum at #3. If they wanted Tatum, they would trade down with Sacramento and pick up #5 and #10 and get Tatum then or trade down with some other team. If Tatum gets picked by then, no worries and they can pick someone else while adding assets since Tatum isn't some hot prospect.

Disagree here. No idea if Celtics want Tatum or not, but if they did, dropping to 5 is not the way to do it. A drop to 3 is the last spot you can be sure he will be available. He makes some sense for Phoenix at 4.

Also you are assuming Sac actually will trade 5 and 10. Those rumors have been shut down.

http://www.nba.com/celtics/draft/profile-jayson-tatum/

His top four scoring performances all came against Top-25 teams, including a career-best 28-point effort on Feb. 15 against No. 14 Virginia. During that performance against the Cavaliers, he tied a program freshman record by canning six 3-pointers on just seven attempts. Tatum finished second among ACC freshmen in scoring and rebounds, while also ranking second among his teammates in those categories. He spearheaded Duke’s impressive ACC Tournament championship run, averaging 22.0 PPG and 7.5 RPG during a four-games-in-four-days stretch. Amazingly, he played 153 of a possible 160 minutes during the four-day stretch.

Shows he can be that go to guy come playoff time. Reminds of Paul George a bit actually.

Its a simple plan for me. If they have an agreed upon Bled deal then draft Fox. If not draft, Monk. I dont read bust on either one of those guys.

see how easy it was?

BTW, Knight wouldn't see a minute of play. Eventually structure a buy out if no one wants him. Eat his cap space, as we are likely going to be closer to the minimum than to the tax level.

He will struggle to get that 3pt shot in the NBA, maybe as a spot up 3pter with time... ala Bledsoe level 3pter... and teams will give him that shot more than open lanes.

Monk could be a stud player in the mold of Gordon or even McCollum, 17ppg as a rookie and maybe 20ppg as early as next season given he gets minutes.

Jackson, Isaac and Smith intrigues me the most...

Fox's very mediocre vision scares me more than his jumper. He's not a good passer at all vs good defenses.

We complain about Bledsoe not being a "pure PG" yet draft his 170 lb equivalent with an even more questionable jumper? Gonna pass on that one.

Unless he is playing in open space he is trash at creating anything, part of it is defenses playing off him and shutting down passing lines, part of it is his limited vision, he got a ton of assists out of just moving the ball towards his shooters, Monk and Willis mainly.

I'd not feel good with him as my main ball-handler and if he doesnt have the ball in his hands he is useless so.... yeah

As a back-up PG to groom, like Bledsoe was drafted for by LA, sure, draft him somewhere in the teens outside of the lotto, as a top3-5? heck even top10 pick? no way.

Yeah, I might take him late lotto, but not in the top 5. That's probably why he'll end up on the Kings.

you doubt the experts ? 8-)

http://www.nbadraft.net/2017-extended-mock-draft-72

Fox is probably the most physically gifted player in this year's draft. But he has one major Achilles to his game and that is his shooting efficiency. However when you watch him shoot, it's easy to conclude that he can become a quality shooter over time. The form on his shot actually looks decent, not requiring a lot of time to get it off, and solid mechanics. He's the quickest player in the draft and will instantly become one of the quickest at the next level. Combine that with above average size for the position and you have an absolute physical specimen capable of locking down opposing points and getting by opponents virtually at will. Fox had some nagging injuries through the season, but ended the season cementing his place in the top half of the lottery with his 39 point domination of Lonzo Ball, in the Cat's run to the Elite Eight.

Why the Suns take DeAaron Fox: The Suns have shown an affinity toward Kentucky guards and a pairing of DeAaron Fox and Devin Booker would make for a prolific young backcourt. The Suns are said to likely be choosing between Jayson Tatum and Fox at 4, with the player they don't select likely going 5th to Sacramento.
