it doesn't; the whole point of getting that pick is the chance that it becomes a number 1 overall pick....protections takes alot of the luster off of it.

accept it in your heart and move on bro

Yes I understand that. But damn that is a major gamble to make. And it's one I am not comfortable with.

BC does not get paid to make trades that the average guy on this board can make. He get's paid to figure this kind of thing out and get the guy you want without overpaying.

A switch of top picks and then throwing in what could be the #1 or #2 overall for a guy that is good, but might not be great is a lot to give up.

I wish I could just accept it. :(

Someone once posted that the thing with Hinkie not being the GM is that, when a trade goes down you always feel like you have the smartest guy in the room on your team.
BC does not generate that kind of confidence.

You can't include the 2021 pick too. That is just crazy. What is Fultz the last shooter on earth !?

If Ainge pulls this off he is Executive of the decade. He make deals in his own division that weakens the competition in the short and long haul, as his team gets stronger. Amazing.

I hope all the picks being floated around for this trade are highly exaggerated.

don't get me wrong, I am secretly shook right now too (if only because I am a very negative person who always thinks of disaster in the future....) and would love to keep all of the picks and draft to complete a team full of Monstars but I also know that this is the price of doing business and risk in a major factor in it. Eventually those picks stop being valuable and you either have to take some guy with them and leaving yourself wondering if you waited too long to cash them in.

I'm not even the biggest Fultz fan. I was team Jackson all the way. i desperately want to root for the next T-Mac level wing as that is my favorite style of basketball to watch (it might be a relic in today game however)....but I am going to chalk it up to ALL of the experts can't be wrong (before you point to many of the past busts...note that a lot of them had major red flags then (Olawakandi, Bennett) or were idiots off the court (Beasley, Mayo)) for my sanity's sake if nothing else. I am no expert so believe me I am super shook at the thought of Fultz not being worth it while Boston reaps the benefit of those picks...but I am willing to see how this turns out regardless. Hell, the fact that I am not super high on Fultz is a great thing with my recent draft record (although some posters who's thought process I respect not being high on him while others who I often clash with do....does scare me).

If the reports are to be believed we gave up 2 #1 picks and a swap to get Fultz.

My cod that is a lot.

This is fake news. It is very, very unlikely we give up one let alone two.

Not to be too negative, but we could still have given them the 2019 #1 pick

Still could use a little buzzsaw off the bench. A Kemba-stopper. Since the team is ready to go, would't hurt to bring an older player. Frank Mason.

we probably could use another wing so when Covington is off or god forbid gets hurt we aren't dead

We have a part ninja / part lion waiting in the wings and he just can't wait to be king.

It's amazing what a little protection can do. Stop you from having to pay years of child support for one drunken night. Help you get a new car when yours is wrecked, etc.

Knowing that we are still in the running for the #1 overall pick next year is a good feeling. And we can still end up with something after the 5th pick too.

This protection feels good.
