It looks like a good deal for both teams to me. Fills a real need perfectly for Philly and Boston adds to its trade stockpile. I could see Boston grabbing Tatum if they intend to slow play their future draft picks, but Jackson makes more sense if they are finally going to make a move in someone like Butler. Would I like to have the LAL top 2 protected? Sure, but I can live with it.

When will Ainge finally pull the trigger on a superstar?

Tatum is the guy I reckon they are after, super advanced offensively for his age.

Jackson is literally 1/10th the offensive player than fultz is.. fultz is westbrook or dwade type player with a 3 ball.. not as explosive yet but close but again hes only just turned 19

Hes an all star easily at least

We win this trade. Sixers r title contenders in 2 years for the next 6 to 8 years and a surefire lock at the playoffs this year.

Oh ya, and we have **** tons of capspace. Stfu.. colangelo just finished the process for us

Exactly.

* Boston fans are currently tearing their hair out at losing out on Fultz
* The rest of the leagues fans jaws are wide open wondering what the hell Boston is doing and why would they gift their rival a potential championship team for the next 10 years.
* Half of Phillies fans are worried about whether the Lakers and Sacremento picks for players we don't even know exist yet are top 5 protected

Kudos to Colangelo for not giving up both picks. But the protections actually benefit Boston. Essentially we get the Sacramento pick unprotected and if LA falls between 2-5 we get an Extra shot to guarantee a Top 5 pick.

I don't think the #3 pick will ever play for the Celtics. Heck Brown may never play for them again.

Josh jackson is not that much better a prospect than jaylen brown to be honest IMO.. his scoring ability is slightly better than browns.. neither is going to be a star. Jacksons best case scenario is iguodala... fultz best case is dwade or westbrook with a 3 point shot

The way I read it is you get 2-5 next year or you get Sacramento's unprotected. I don't think you can possibly get both.

Yup, nice deal for them overall. I think we'll lose the deal in terms of overall value pretty easily but it's worth it for fit (and not going through another year of uncertainty about our core).

Yup, Brown and Jackson/Tatum come off the bench this year behind Bradley and Crowder. Then if either is good enough and ready enough to start, they let Bradley walk next year. If both are good enough, they either move Crowder or use him as the third wing in the rotation, or maybe try to run small ball with those three good-sized wings. No real conflict there, at least less conflict than Fultz alongside IT2, Smart, and Bradley.

Value wise, I think we lose this one. But overall impact is much greater for us. I think Fultz will be at his best with us, so will our roster with him.

Yes its only one pick. I am just referring to why the protection benefits the Celtics.

I think it's a good deal from both ends. If the protection was top 3 it's a BC fleece, but the 2-5 protection works well for the Celtics. You'd have to figure the Lakers will fall between there. Still think Sac's 18 pick will be top 5 though. I think that's the pick we use for Embiid insurance in the future.

I agree that he still wins the trade on points, and this is because he seemingly has the same view of this draft that I do, which is that Jackson and Fultz are equal on talent. That means he is getting a player that fits them better, plus another high lottery pick.

This is a great trade from his perspective. The risk is on our side I think,

I'm not a Fultz fan but we win this trade HANDS DOWN for the sole fact the Bos fan base is ready to jump off the TD center. Serves them smug bas.ar,s right

They don't exactly 'benefit' you, but they're not unfavorable for you. The Sixers getting the Lakers pick if it's first overall obviously benefits us, and even the 2-5 protection could work against you if the Kings '19 pick ends up lower than 6th (which is very possible, though I would probably bet against it at even odds). They seem like pretty fair protections for this deal--could go either way depending on what the Lakers/Kings do. I'd predict you all will feel just fine about it in the end.

wouldn't be surprised if Danny moves down from 3 (like i was hoping we were going to do, before BC came through). he obviously likes DSJ, and Isaac or Tatum would make a lot of sense for them.

Let's not forget that Hinkie got this pick back from Orlando for the Payton trade. The swap would have never been in play.

I don't know why people bother getting Mad  they got that pick for nothing and they will potentially get a 2-5 next year or top 5 the following year.
They have a good team already with a great History :banghead:

This pretty much why there's this deal

True, I'm not sure why their fans are upset, if Ainge doesn't see Fultz as a fit, then make the trade and get Jackson at 3.

Don't they have the Nets pick next year as well?

Reading through lots of Celtic fans posts and tweets they love Fultz and are pissed that the Celtics are giving up their future to win now at a time where they won't even get past the Cavs never mind the Warriors. They're also pissed that on top of that when the Cavs and Warriors are in decline mode they've then virtually handed over a dynasty to the 76ers for the next 10 years anyway. That seems to be the common take.
