1. #3 gets traded for a vet
2. Draft Jayson Tatum
3. #3 gets traded to move back again (SAC was reportedly willing to move up)
4. Draft Josh Jackson

I was under the impression management wasn't interested in trading the pick for vets and a short term window

Summer of 2017 is the setup move.

2018 is the kill shot.

Although by the time we're done 2017 may look like a kill shot too.

Crowder/Zeller/Smart/Lakers 2018 for Butler.

Bradley and Grizz 2018 for Minny #7.

Draft DSJ.

So this offseason doesn't really matter as much, it's next years that really does. Sounds like every offseason since 2013.

One win for the "he's not a winner" crowd is that, if you look at Philly, both Simmons and Fultz had the same problem in college. Neither of them are "winners." So people that care a lot about college records and the fact that these guys didn't get to the tournament can be confident that Philly will fill up the stat sheet but probably fall flat on their face at actually winning at anything for the next half a decade at least.

Then after they figure it out, we'll have the second coming of the Warriors dominating the NBA for 5-7 straight years...

But will everyone stay after filling up the stat sheet and losing, when they'll want maxes for showing their individual skills? Or will they be another OKC that falls apart?

Projecting that far out is hard, but I can say their immediate future is still full of losing.

For everyone losing about this trade think about it this way. This is the best trade Ainge has got for Fultz that is what he and the pick are worth. The Warriors are not offering Steph for this guy, John Wall and Kyrie are not on the table so evaluate the situation as it is.

So don't make the trade, draft the consensus best player and have him play for your team?

Because you know on your team he is back up and Jackson might be a starter.

That only matters if you think you can contend. Not seeing it....Celts reasons seems real dumb if it's not winning and overflow of guards.

A lot of what ifs. So lets say the Lakers get the 6th pick next year, it doesn't convey. Kings pick is unprotected, but what if they don't suck and get the 8th or 9th pick. Pretty weak trade, so many moving parts and variables.

Well Ramona Shelbourne says this trade is happening early so that both teams will still maneuver. I'd be down with this offseason

Plus two out of Smart/Crowder/Rozier.

Then land Hayward for Griffin in free agency.

If Ainge thinks there isn't much separation between Fultz and the other 3 prospects take him anyways unless Sixers were offering a godfather offer. Almost everyone had Fultz as the best why try to make a super risky move???

What is the risk? Most of the time these deals are about money or a useless future pick. Ainge just got a top 5 pick next year or an unrestricted Kings pick in '19. I get that because Ainge keeps doing this that Boston fans don't understand how rare these type of assets are but to get this from a lottery dwelling team is ridiculous.

Bottom line Fultz isn't Lebron James or Kevin Durant, what do you do? If you can double down.

I just can't convince myself there's a chance we win a title with a team led by Jimmy Butler and Gordon Hayward/Blake Griffin. Much better duos than that haven't even sniffed the Finals.

I wanna trade down to 5 and 10 and take DSJ and maybe Collins I guess.
