Very tough time to be a Pacer fan

Post#1 » by Lazlo4D » Sat Jun 17, 2017 10:18 pm

Between an owner that is seen less than Puxatony Phil (the groundhog) and the former GM (Bird) that gave slightly better press conferences than Bill Belichick, it is very boring to be a Pacer fan. Pritchard hardly says a thing.

At least Frank Vogel talked to the fans and gave a hint on what they were thinking and planning. Now it's like waiting for signs of smoke from the Papal.

When have the Pacers had multiple first round picks in a draft or a top 5 pick?

This franchise stinks at planning beyond next season, never stockpiling picks. It feels like they're on the brink of reluctant rebuild. It is not of their choosing, make some wrong moves this off season and it could be a long 5 years before daylight.

When does the Colt's preseason start?

Colts minicamp last week.

Don't remember a top five pacer pick after Smits. That's a good thing. Tisdale ... oh Bender was a trade into top five.

If we had tanked in the dark ages post-brawl, would we have been able to put together those Eastern Conference Finals teams in the Blue Collar, Gold Swagger era?

Murphleavy days were my rock bottom and that will be hard to match.

The only thing that kept me on my feet in those days, was believing Ike Diogu was going to be stud and the reason to take on such god awful players.

I very much like the type of core players the Pacers have right now (Hibbert and his falling down/slowness was hard to watch for me too). Turner, Teague. I see no Batman in PG either, so I'm prepared to move on and get someone like Tatum.

Bird and his weird obsession for high usage players are gone too, so I actually feel very positive about the Pacers future for the moment. :)

We didn't tank then and we won't tank now.

You do realize its not usually a good sign if you have multiple picks in the 1st round or a top 5 pick. Like when was the last time GS had either of those?

I for one found last year to be terrible, up and down, finishing barely above .500 and getting swept? Threat of our franchise player leaving us for nothing? I'm done with PG, lets turn the page and reset, actually feels great.

No doubt this Paul George experience is tough, but things as a Pacers fan have been tough before. These last few years with the injury, the whole will PG play the 4 extravaganza, the coaching change, and this year's playoff sweep haven't been that easy either.

I am hoping to put the past behind us and move in a different direction with our new GM at the helm. We have a chance to wonder what the next big thing will be instead of trying to "get back" to those ECF days.

Relatively speaking we as a franchise have not had it that tough. From the Reggie era to now there have been some great moments over that long time span. Yes this is currently a tough situation but I bet the folks in Minny, Orlando, Charlotte, etc etc etc would trade places with us in a heartbeat.

Yeah we've been average to really good and never really bad. We haven't been awesome much, if at all, though either but I'd still take that over seemingly endless lotto trips.
