We just got a ticket into the Marvin Bagley sweepstakes. He's worth the risk we're taking.

Yeah, because we're totally winning the lottery again.

Sacramento is 99.9% guaranteed to be the worst team in the NBA for the next 3 years. For what it's worth.

Please. This is so typical. Every year people think there is a monster class coming and this year sucks. What's the point of drafting 3 guys in the first round every year when none of those guys turn into a franchise cornerstones? Even if there are 3 LeBrons coming out, if we don't win the lottery, you can't take him. But then we are operating under assumption that every other gm in the league is a moron and not even have a scouting team, right? Ainge is god and in ainge we trust, right? How dare anyone speak ill of our dear leader. :banghead:

Do you know what the only guaranteed way to win the lottery is? Buy enough tickets.

I think we didn't get enough value back, but I'm not gunna sit here and bitch and moan about it. Ainge obviously didn't love Fultz. Oh well.

So you will sell your house and all your assets to buy as many tickets as you can for the next power ball when you just won the lottery? If you win that, put all the money into the next drawing, JUST IN CASE the jackpot is bigger?

That's ~$110M in salaries BEFORE Butler re-signed. Add in whoever is left after trade, high pick rookie deals, roster filler and $ go nuts. Play that only one year further with Butler re-signed and you go from a $300M team to a $400M team aged 30+ with very likely no titles."

Okay, I'm even more confused. What's the plan then? It's surely not that? Owners won't pay for that if the ceiling is a puncher's chance at making the Finals.

It's looking like run back the same squad from last season (minus the FAs) + #3 + Hayward/Griffin?

We're staying on the treadmill while continuing to develop young talent and accumulating future assets. The plan hasn't really changed. Ainge clearly preferred someone else over Fultz, knew he could get him at 3 and took on an extra asset for his trouble.

We sold our house?

You loved Fultz. Ainge didn't. If Ainge drafted Tatum at 1, the same people bitching about this trade would be bitching that he didn't trade down for more value.

We are stacked at SF. Too bad we couldn't lock top 2 picks to get a consensus nba ready potential perennial allstar **** point guard.

Unbelievable.

Don't forget how the Jaylen Brown pick was perceived initially.

For the record, I'm ok with this, even if I'm disappointed we couldn't squeeze another 1st out of Philly, even a future one that bets on them continuing to suck due to injuries etc. Danny definitely didn't fleece Colangelo unless Fultz sucks and/or we get a top-2 pick in 2018 or 2019.

But it's time to make a move. You can't position yourself for 5 years down the road. We have good cards. Time to play them. And if Danny doesn't think Fultz is better than other guys, then WHATEVER he can get from Philly is gravy.

I'm laughing at the people saying this trade is terrible because it makes Philly a powerhouse. Two of their three "superstars" have never played a game and the third can't play more than 2 games in a row. So quick to condemn the Celtics' future and foresee the Sixers' dominance.

And I like Fultz. I would've kept the pick. But that's why I'm a lawyer and Danny's the GM.

Is it really that Ainge likes Jackson/Ball/Tatum/whoever nearly as much as Fultz or rather that he needed to split the asset in order to facilitate another deal or two?

I think the story is in the timing. If this was a simple trade down to acquire a future pick there's no reason not to keep quiet, wait until draft night, see who the Lakers take, then action the deal rather than having every basic media head shouting that Jackson is your guy at #3. Ainge is a smart dude. The move and the timing has intent.

The Boston Celtics will choose between Jayson Tatum and Josh Jackson with the third overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft if Lonzo Ball goes No. 2 to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Celtics decided to pass on drafting Markelle Fultz, trading down to No. 3 with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Boston could also flip the third overall pick in a separate trade and aren't done discussing scenarios.

Hope Ainge really trade this ****, why do we need to draft another SF if we're going after Gordon Hayward anyways?? We're already full of guards, now you want to be stacked with SFs, Dannyboy??

I just don't think this is the end of the world. I think it wasn't great value, but it's not heinous either

I don't either tbh. At least not yet. Gotta see how this plays out first. I didn't like the trade, but I still have a lot of faith in Danny and the front office.

If fultz ends up being rudy gay, are you still mad?
