Just got an alert from the score that says celtics are trying to trade for AD. About 0% chance that happens.

No i'll give you your props, you were about as close as possible to the deal as you could be lol Like I said earlier, i'm cool with the trade and I do think the value in having the LAL pick 2-5 protected and the Kings pick in 19' as a fall back option is much better than the LAL pick unprotected. I wish we still had just taken Fultz but we'll see how this turns out. My gif was a little harsh I admit lol

Sorry for slightly off-topic and looking way too far ahead but how bat-sh*t crazy is it going to be for us next year at the lottery? Pure bedlam. I look forward to that night and this board in complete and utter chaos, haha.

Yeah, bigtrade's was the one I posted yesterday.
Well... and grandtheftrondo's posts, too.
Wish we could go back to the original KG trade threads. There were months of them between the draft and the actual trade, and they were chock full of the worst takes ever written on anything lol. Board was overwhelmingly against that trade. So much so, that I created an account just to tell people they were absolutely **** crazy lol.
The KG trade was on one hand a great move and on the other hand a cautionary tale. A solitary championship is great...multiples is better. It was a last ditch move and it paid off with a title, but that was 10 years ago.

Thomas/Bradley/Hayward/Horford/Davis would be pretty sweet, but probably a pipedream. Okay, definitely a pipedream.

Are you referring to this:
https://www.thescore.com/nba/news/1320766-report-celtics-trying-to-trade-for-anthony-davis
No source or even suggestion of where the idea came from and it spends most of the "article" saying why it wouldn't happen.

You think it's mostly positive. I think it's terrible.
If you make this trade, you do it without protection and you get the SAC pick too. Otherwise, Philly can go **** themselves.
We're helping them so that we may get a shot at a top pick in 2019? And that's just as long as the Lakers don't suck next season, which they will.Is that a joke?
We have the freakin top pick RIGHT NOW and the consensus top pick is viewed as a stud. You pick Fultz and thank Red above for the good fortune, unless Philly completely meet your terms. But this? It's a fleecing and not in our favor.
Would you rather have:
1.) The Lakers unprotected 2018 pick.
Or
2.) The Lakers 2018 pick if it's 2-5 else the Kings 2019 unprotected pick.
If the answer is (1), you aren't very smart.
If the answer is (2), then stop mentioning protections when complaining about the trade.
The answer is nether. Its Fultz. If you want him and this pick you blow me away with an offer I can't refuse. This offer is far removed from that.

Another thought. Ainge may have a player he REALLY likes in 2018 (not for nothing, Demakis is hyping GOAT potential for Doncic), and this gives us the ammo to target him, even if he's projected #1 if we end up with #2 (BKN) and #3,4 or 5 (LAL).

You have a reading comprehension problem. I'm talking about whether the 2-5 protection is good, as opposed to have it unprotected. You were complaining about the tiny chance the Sixers will get the #1 pick next year.
Obviously getting both Lakers '18 and Kings '19 would be better. As would getting the Lakers' pick protected 1-5. But those ships have sailed. I was just answering your question.
I don't need a question answered. I think the trade is crap. I could care less about your opinion on the return or pretection.

Re: All things Draft Pick. #3
Nothing remotely cautionary about it. If the goal is multiple titles with ANY NBA path, you and the people who think like that (seen several now) are very likely to be massively disappointed. The only way you are likely to come away with multiple titles is by stumbling into a LeBron or Durant type completely absurd all-time, historical talent. And Markelle Fultz sure as hell isn't that.ViperGTS wrote:Captain_Caveman wrote:CeltsfaninDC wrote:No, I meant the message from the linked thread. The one above it is a gem too

You need to re-adjust your expectations if you think there's any path the Celtics can take that makes several championships the likely outcome. The NBA isn't like other sports where you can just be really smart and build a potential multiple time champ. You need to get that absurd luck by stumbling your way into that talent through things completely out of your control to build the kind of team you are talking about.

Well, if we're going to disregard opinions, then yours is probably the last one anybody wants to hear, given your opinion 4 years ago. Nailed that one, didn't ya.

Wouldn't it be great if the Brooklyn pick was #1 again, and the Lakers pick #2 again. We would get both.

Jackson can score. He has excellent ball handling and can get to the rim. He's shown good touch with both hands. He'll be a 20 ppg scorer in his prime.
I don't see it. He did well against college 4s but he is gonna get eaten alive by SFs in the pros. His handle is way too exposed, and people are gonna play off of him because they won't respect his shot. I don't see anywhere that kind of scorer.
He'll definitely do well on defense because he moves well and has good hands and in transition because of his passing and court vision, but he's not a consistent scorer at the next level IMO...which is why he's not an elite prospect.
The other player I see star potential in is Dennis Smith Jr. He is a perfect PNR guard who will be double digits in scoring and assists.

Why there's so much hype for Doncic? I see another Rubio who also played really good at very young age in europe. Turned into solid starter/rotational PG.

That would be great, it's definitely possible for us to end up with two top 5 picks. Not likely but possible

The future pick has a very high chance of being top 5 but it still feels a little light. Maybe when the trade is official we will see a pick swap of something like that. If the LA pick doesn't convey we get a swap with the Sixers pick.

Is that a joke?
