Enh, not really because he keeps harping on the Lakers thing which is destroying his trade value. Why would any team give up a lot knowing he's likely just a rental and gonna walk to LAl after this year? Why would the Lakers trade anything now to bring him in a year early when they can just sign him for nothing but cap-space next year? They'll be lucky to get even middling assets at this point I think. I agree it's still better than giving all appearences of staying and then up and bailing as you (and we, LMA) have suffered, but not a ton better.
A team that trades for him and they win a lot (finals, conference finals) gives him a sense of how close he can get...I can see that changing his mind about LA.
Sure but that's a massive risk for that team to take, I mean they
have to approach it as presumably a rental with a chance of resigning him if things go right. That has some value and I wouldn't be shocked for like a single solid asset or a couple middling ones are moved but short of someone just going crazy and pulling a Magic/Ibaka move I don't think the Pacers will get anything remotely resembling his actual value like they could have if they'd dealt him before the trade deadline last year. So I guess it's nice of him to say something, better late than never, but it's pretty much too late, if he did this last february they would be in a position to benefit but at this point and with all the lakers chatter thrown on there he's really not doing them much of a favor lol.
