Yup. I love Isiah. But not at max, and in some situations..in the playoffs..coming off the bench. This is why the guard thing is perplexing. Ainge couldn't help himself drafting guards then when the top prospect in the draft is a guard...he punts.

Makes no sense and IT is so limited in many ways that he can't be the one to assuage any doubts about the position.

It will be a difficult decision because of what IT has accomplished here, but unless it's in a microwave scoring capacity off the bench as you say, it's too tough to put together a championship level defense with him.

Assuming that is Demetrius Jackson and not Josh, yeah. Josh would work too, but that becomes far too much to give up to me. Pacers have ZERO leverage after what George's agent pulled leaking this. Nobody is giving up something comparable to the #3 overall pick anymore, I'd bet. Best they can get might be Kevin Love who is 29 years old, doesn't fit with them.

I'd say Bradley+Crowder+D.Jackson and then some combo of our lesser picks like MIN's 2nd this year, our own '18, LAC '19, MEM '19 and/or Yabusele would be more what I'd expect the Pacers to get in a package like this.

I think IT is somewhere between $20 and $30 million. I am not interested in dollars. More interested in % of cap.

So the luxury tax threshold will be about 120 million- it could go up a few million if the cap does, but it means you can carry four max guys at most - and the issue isn't going over - the cap is 100 million-ish, so an extra 25-30 is within what teams can pay, especially with the new TV deal. The issue is less the tax and more the repeater penalty.

The Warriors are incredibly lucky to have Draymond and allay maxed under the old cap, and Curry still on an old near-max.

Curry's max is going to take them right up to the luxury tax line, if they keep Iguodala and Livingston.

If they had to pay 25 million to Klay and Dray, that's 100 million right there.

Look how they filled out the rest of their roster, though - Zaza, David West, Varejao, Javale McGee made about 7 million combined.

So that's how you have to operate.. We could do it, I think, with IT/George/Griffin/Horford- and we can do things to navigate the cap and tax cap - if Zizic is ready, Horford gets dealt for cheaper players - or you sign and trade George to someone for a couple of smaller, shorter contracts and let Jaylen take over.

It's been awhile, but we are going to see the return of "bad contracts" and cap purgatory someday soon. The cap won't go up forever.

And yeah, if we have four all stars and IT is doing less work, I think he doesn't get the full max. Even 23, 24 million gives you a little breathing room. Does he get mad and go to a team offering him 30? Maybe.

If Ainge is going to go all-in, besides Anthony Davis who apparently isn't available anyways, this is the most attainable guy to get who moves the needle.

Probably already been said, but would you trade the #3 for George knowing that he could leave but also could resign and that it would increase the chances of the Lakers being bad next season?

When it comes to #3, if he signs an extension, yes. If he doesn't, no, you'd use lesser assets.

No, I'd give up any non Brooklyn 1st and either Bradley or Crowder with Zeller.
