Hopefully Danny Ainge will remain a permanent dick-tease to all the Boston fans. The guy always wants to have a pile of assets but never wants to sell out.

Really? Perhaps you could give some examples?
Was the biggest of those asset acquisition deals -- the trade with the Nets -- a bad move in your opinion? Looks pretty good to me.
Didn't the Celtics rebuild pretty quickly from being a 25-win team in 2013-14.
Didn't they go to the ECF this year?
You think Boston fans have a beef with Ainge? I don't.

Love the move for the Sixers. Def would be a top 3 exciting team if healthy this year.

Targeting Butler as a trade target makes a ton of sense for the Celtics.
A plan B may be a rental of Paul George. He took a lot of leverage away from the Pacers by announcing he will be leaving.

The Celtics are chasing Anthony Davis. Unclear if the Pels are willing to listen. If so, that's scary: the Cs might have enough assets to make a godfather offer.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

Btw, the Sixers are going to thrash the Wizards in a few years. That team is going to have scary young talent. If they stay healthy, that team challenges Cleveland in 3 years.

Perhaps. That "scary young talent" still has to show they can actually play.
But with that being said, I get what you're saying.

Yeah until Boston actually shows something with these picks, I peg the Sixers, assuming they're healthy to be the top team in the East in a few years.

You should probably go check a majority of their reaction after the trade, then. Boston RealGM, Reddit, CelticsBlog, etc.

Agreed... Philly looks to be pretty good, but there are a ton of question marks.
The most proven/talented/complete player (Embiid) has serious injury concerns.
Their 2nd potential star (Simmons) has yet to play one minute of professional basketball and also plays point forward. While it can be a huge mismatch, it can also be tough to build around.
Their 3rd potential star (Fultz) hasnt even been drafted yet. Like Simmons, he also has a huge question mark surrounding his leadership/competitiveness and range on his jump shot.
In summary, they are clearly superior in regards to having the measurables (Ht/Wt/Athleticism) as well as skills in passing and scoring.
But all 3 have question marks in regards to being "Killers" on the court and real leaders. It is also imperative to have guards/wings that can shoot the 3 and play D, and Simmons/Fultz have serious questions about both.

Those fans have to be worried. They got all these picks, but Ainge just traded 1 great asset for 1 good asset + a good future asset. Once those 2019 picks are ready to contribute, IT and Horford will have retired.
The assets themselves are great. But the guy controlling the assets worries me. Get the prize already Danny!

I don't think Ainge pulls the trigger on a rental of PG when they were originally gun shy on pulling the trigger on 1st round pick(s) + role players for PG/Butler during the season

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 6
With news that the Celtics are targeting Butler, it is time for me to admit that the Wizards have terrible management. We had Porter, Wall and Beal fall into our laps. Other than that, Ernie has been able to do nothing but trade away our 1st round pick each year. Instead of keeping those picks and stock piling assets, we stupidly chased a playoff birth. And now, the emperor has no clothes. While other teams are busy making trades, the Wizards are standing pat, and will continue to stand pat for the foreseeable future (i.e. 2 to 3 years out).

I agree with you in regards to EG but supposedly the Wiz are trying to acquire George.
Let's just see how things shake out over the summer.

On its face, I am not a fan of trading Otto for PG13 considering the risk.
But there is a side effect we should take into account. If we trade Otto and Gortat in a trade for PG13, we could have 30m in cap space this summer if we dump Morris.
I think our chances are pretty good that either PG13 resigns or Boogie signs outright. Just a thought

True, but we'd have to bank on Boogie having a bad time on New Orleans and not resigning with them. If we do pull the trigger on that trade, then I'd expect EG would have Wall's assurances that he can bring Boogie here.

A resigned Otto alone makes a lot more than PG right now so trading Otto & Marcin for PG alone is not feasible.
