Dear Dan Gilbert re: David Griffin

David Griffin & Trent Redden working on potential PG13 & now Jimmy Butler deals with 11 days left on their contracts and we've yet to hear any movement from this quote on quote, "willing to spend whatever it takes to build a championship culture/contender"...

Well, Dan Gilbert, Griff and behind the scenes, Redden, with an assist from LBJ has built that championship culture with every tool afforded them in the CBA book they could concoct these past 3 years. I understand, for whatever reason, your ownership group likes to drag its feet when it comes to contract negotiations but damn, how much more work does Griff have to put in as a leader to prove his worth? IT IS a travesty that Griff was not signed in between the start of the NBA Finals where it was rumored it might go down but the fact that a week has passed since the end of Game 5 and still no word. Just crazy this is what has transpired.

How hard is it to slap the President title on Griff and put him in the ballpark as his closet peer, Bob Myer's salary structure to begin with? Why drag your feet to pay a mil or 2 less and sow resentment? I just don't get it.

Do SOMETHING Gilbert. Oh, and get PG13 and Butler.

The best part of all this NBA "potential" activity, we don't have to wait until July 1st for things to get poppin. It's actually kind of nice how frenzied the NBA world is at this time leading up to the draft. I likes it. 8-)
Come at the king, you best not miss...

Gilbert needs to handle the business.

Griffin is one of the best GMs in basketball and has been able to pull off whatever the team needs to be a contender. The dude is a magician with the cap during trade deadlines and really deserves a pay raise. I literally cant think of 1 reason why he shouldnt or anything that he has botched.

You should have started with "Dear Lebron James" if you wanted to get this to the real guy pulling the strings.

Lettuce brew real stew here...

He's gonna get paid. And he's gonna get paid handsomely.

He will get paid. Not by the Cavs.

I don't get letting him walk. I don't know that Billups could do any better than Griff has. Some team is going to get a really really good basketball GM/Pres when he gets hired. Who exactly is calling the shots now? If it is still Griff, why in the world would he make the best possible deal for the Cavs when they are letting him go?
I know, professionalism blah blah blah, it is human nature to have a let down when someone basically tells you that they don't need/want you anymore to just mail in the effort (like the team did on D most of the season). Does Gilbert really think he can do this by himself? If so, his ego will certainly sink this team and we will find ourselves back where we were 3 or 4 seasons ago.
I am baffled by letting Griff walk. Let me be the first here to say Thank You to Griff for building a championship team around Lebron, and for all his hard work in doing so. I wish him well where ever he ends up. Hopefully not the Lakers.

It wasn't about the money.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

David Griffin had to be a magician; he kept putting the team behind the 8ball.

He paid a Lamborghini price for a BMW product. While a BMW is nice, it's not worth $400k.

I agree..

But it feels to me like it's going in the opposite direction. Spiraling down slowly..

I'm beginning to accept that this team will be completely blown up after next season
