The Cavs would then use the 4th overall pick as the centerpiece of a deal to acquire All-Star Jimmy Butler from the Bulls.

If that's true, then McD is trying to outdo Orlando's GM in stupid "save my job" bs. It's time to part ways with this clown, preferably before he wastes more assets.

I don't believe it. He might have proposed it but I don't think McD would have done it.

Is this Suns Insider any legit? This trade idea makes zero sense to me, hope it goes down in flames.

umm.. Pick(s) as in draft picks...

Young as in Young Players from their team.

Teams are calling Lakers to offer to absorb Deng or Mozgov but Lakers need to give pick(s) or Young players.

WHOA, I learned so much today...

Yeah, humor gets lost easily on the internets, especially when we're all speed reading trying to find out what has-been we're trading all of our picks and young players for.

I've been insisting that Ryan's job is safe because the TV contract solves Sarver's biggest issue and Ryan no longer has to swing for the fences. I still believe that's true but if Windbag is correct, boy have I been wrong. I don't usually have a problem with admitting I'm wrong (at my age, I've had plenty of practice) but I'm going to hate it this time. Not from embarrassment but from shame. Shame that my team could do something so incredibly foolish.

I'm pretty sure he/she gets their info from other sites. In this case, they sited Windhorst. I follow them because they are a sponge for news that's out there (like getting info that Gambo posts)

This is not Ryan McDonough - this is classic Sarver getting impatient. Its a pattern. He makes one good move followed by a bunch of lousy moves. He trades away two picks - one of which could have been a PG for 3m each but than signs Marcus Banks; he lets SToudemire go but then signs a bunch of dudes. Umm, he signs both Barbosa and Diaw to big contracts but the next year has to dump Kurt Thomas with two first rounders; and now possibly this - not sure how you can say this is anybody but sarver

Doug Franz thinks we really want Ball as does Chad Ford. They insist that we want to move up for him......thank God we don't have pick 2.

Maybe. Sarver was under financial pressure but he's said all the right things ever since his disastrous foray into GM role playing and his financial distress has been relieved. I can't see either one of them going this route although I can sort of understand the allure of pairing Love and Booker with Ball. It would be an exciting team that could win a lot of games, maybe a poor man's Houston. I just can't see why they'd settle for being Houston-lite. So I'm not going to indict either Sarver or McDonough on the basis of an unsupported rumor but I'm going to be royally pissed if it actually happens.

I would rather pair Love and Booker with Russell than Ball to be honest. But yes, that's not much D and would be Houston -lite

I don't want Love and I don't want to deal with the Ball circus but IMO Ball works much better with Booker and Love than Russell would. Ball is a low usage PG that gets everyone involved, Russell takes away from the strengths of someone like Love rather than accentuating them.

Suns insider doesn't know ****. That matches none of the timeline stuff they have been saying for the last 6 months.

What I don't understand is why would we go for Love if Butler can be had for #4 and garbage (seriously, what else would the Cavs be able to offer). There is no way we couldn't outbid them (easily so) and snag Butler ourselves. Who would, btw, fit all of our FO's criteria way more than Love does.
I call BS.

I personally wouldnt want to pair Booker with Love. Stay with developing our young players over bring in an old guy.
Just say no to idiots!!

This. If we get Butler for, say, 4 + Chriss or Bender and probably Mia pick then we can sign someone like Blake Griffin and run with..

Bled/Ulis
Book/??
Butler/Warren
Chriss or Bender/??
Griffin/Chandler

or some variation of that. That gets us into the mix.

I totally agree - skip the Cavs middle man and get Jimmy Butler

Knight, Warren and the 4th pick for Butler - they can Jones too if they want
