Not picking someone they didn't work out is a terrible idea.

There are so many second rounders I like in our slot. Wouldn't mind having 2 or 3 seconds this year to fill up The Herd.

Big fan of drafting production with legit NBA athleticism in the second.

Who the hell knows. Just cliche GM speak. I don't think we will ever get a clear idea of what the plan is for the draft or for the future.

Your confusion confuses me.

I guess my point is that he could just be feeding us a line and he drafts for what he thinks is a need.

If Monroe opts out and we draft a center he could come out and say, "well Player X was our BPA all along", and we would never know. I'm probably not articulating it well but it made sense in my head before I actually had to write it.

With the way the league is going, draft as many 6'8 hyper- athletic guys with a jumper or guards who can get their own shot as you can.

Didn't work out Giannis.

Did Giannis work out for anybody? I don't remember if he did or not. I would guess that the Bucks are willing to make exceptions in cases like that.

But they pretty much always bring in 10+ first round guys and then select one of them. This year's list is:

Donovan Mitchell
Justin Jackson
Harry Giles (Bucks went to see him)
Jarrett Allen (solo workout)
TJ Leaf (both workout and Bucks went to see him)
Bam Adebayo
Ivan Rabb
Tyler Lydon
Tony Bradley
Derrick White

And of this list, Giles, Leaf, BAM, and White are connected to us in terms of agents (BAM shares Giannis' agent and the rest are with Schwartz' agency)

Same. I think it'll be him, Giles, or Jackson.

I think I'd be fine with Leaf.

I'd like Mitchell but I doubt he falls. Otherwise give me Bam.

I dont know a ton about Leaf but respect his shooting stroke for a big and seems like a solid rebounder

Stretch-4 who can run the floor, is athletic and can shoot sounds good to me. That's basically Leaf. There are some questions about his defense, but I'm fine letting that slide because he an excellent spacer. If you start him and Thon, you have two bigs who are excellent shooters from deep.

A Brogdon, Middleton, Giannis, Leaf, Thon lineup could be pretty good offensively and defensively for the most part I'd guess

Yep. There's always a guy who slides.

I actually take this to mean that Mitchell doesn't have a promise above our pick and that Kennard, Giles, Patton, and Ferguson all do. While I had been warming to Kennard, Giles, and Patton I think this is a positive development in that some of these mocks seem woefully wrong and even Ntilikina appears to be dropping into our range.

I don't get why FOs make promises like this though. Does anyone think that Charlotte would rather have Frank the Tank than 4 1st INCLUDING the Nets pick this year? I sure don't. I would always give myself outs to make moves if someone knocked my socks off with an offer. Its one thing to give a wide berth to FAs. Its another thing entirely to overpromise picks that will be under team control for 7 years.

There has been a lot of talk about Leaf and while I think he fits in the NBA he really doesn't fit our swarming long armed defense in that there is no sense in pressuring teams when you always have a clean outlet in whoever Leaf would be guarding. My nephew played on an AAU team that had several really good players that just weren't athletic enough to pressure with the rest of the team and it destroyed their defensive structure.
