Magic might have gotten commitments from Chris Paul, Lebron, and Paul George...

Otherwise, makes zero sense.

Lakers must have felt pressure to clear capspace

Tobi, he's an expiring. The end game always was summer 2018. Who cares what we have to endure next season.

We had to part with one of our better players to move one of those horrific contracts. Just happens that the player moved was a favorite of many on this board.

What does this even mean?

Makes no sense. What does Lonzo have to do with this?

Bill Simmons was questioning how he can't see Lonzo and Russell on the same team. That he has no idea how that could possibly work.

People around the league just aren't as high on Russell as most of you folks think. Between us shopping him to every team in the first round of the drat and finding no suitors and this trade, that point should be pretty clear.

It is irrelevant. You can't justify this trade. You don't sell this low then. There was no rush to even trade him now if you wanted a salary dump.

This is crazy

I'm not happy

Used Russell to dump mozgov.

Should we trade Ingram to dump deng. I'm not happy
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

Ramona is saying that we shopped Russell to all lottery teams last week. No takers.

Russell's highest value is right here on this board.

Then we should have kept him this season. Put him next to Lonzo and Pg. and watch him average 20 a night. Then when his value would have increased, you can actually get a good return for him.

Something I should have paid more attention is the fact that neither Pelinka nor Magic are committed in the long term with the Lakers. Magic always moves on to different things every few years and Pelinka has his own business ue can run at any time.

We're losing 55-60 games next year. Bringing in Paul George wins us, what, another 10? Lebron isn't leaving Cleveland for that, and if he does leave, it's not going to be to spend the twilight of his career fighting for the 8 seed. Get real.

Maverick Carter had 3 meetings with Jeanie Buss this past year. Jeanie fires Jim and hires Magic. Magic announces Lakers wont be signing any free agents in '17 and will wait til '18.

This is exactly how Carter facilitated LeBrons move back to Cleveland.

Sorry I disagree. As you said he's one of our better players, if not our best ATM. You can't sell him this low. What's the rush right now?

Much rather had Russell be packaged with Mozgov's awful contract as opposed being traded for George.

But some of you need to get off the pot. Russell wasn't good. All that per 36 nonesense talked yourself into, was just that, nonesense. Very few 19 year old guards had the greenlight on a terrible team to put up numbers.

It was clear as day the first time he played in summer league how unatheletic he was to reach any stardom at point guard. When you throw in his questionable decision and crap defense he showed the past two years, he pretty much turned into a small unatheltic shooting guard that sucks on defense.

The only assets worth a damn on this team is the #2 pick & Brandon Ingram. And trust me, unless Ingram greatly improves on his terrible rookie season he'll be on the move soon.

There is a reason after four lottery seasons this team still sucks. The top picks have been severely underwhelming.

Severely undervaluing D'Lo in this trade. If someone isn't willing to give you market value then you don't trade. It's that easy. Magic, and Rob buying high and selling low on this one.

This is the type of trade you make next summer when you know exactly who you're getting in free agency.

Someone mentioned Jerry West dumping salaries to get Shaq. The only difference is Jerry knew exactly who he was targeting with that cap space, and he was in a situation where he had already tested the waters and there was a high likelihood of us getting Shaq. We know none of that. Basically D'Lo for cap space is what we got.
Talking about how bad Julius Randle is:

You're a fool. D'lo was the best scorer on this team and had the ability to be an elite passer if he wasn't surrounded by losers taking contested 17-footers every time they actually caught one of his passes. He just turned 21 and we traded him away for an expiring contract and rookie bench fodder. Even if your assessment of Russell was right (it isn't), we got 0 value out of trading him.
