thats a contender.

No, it isn't.

Curry-Thompson-Durant-Green-Iguodala-Pachulia is a contender.

We're not a contender. We're years away and it's important now to know who and what we are.

I'd pass on Donovan Mitchell and Luke Kennard. They are not special and do not help us in our position of need.

Thanks! I wish it were different though. I would love to harbor delusions.

This is what I want this season:

(1) Make the playoffs so Phoenix doesn't throw a party because we give them a top-5 pick.
(2) Play entertaining basketball for the fans
(3) Be a Heat team, meaning bust your ass every game.

Not much to ask for, I think.

If we can continue to develop our players and increase their value so much the better.

Winslow's progress is the key, imo

I don't like Lonzo as a top 5 pick but it's crazy how common his game is to Harden's (Can't pull up going right, no in between game)

If only he had similar handles/athleticism

I wouldn't draft on position needs, It's best to draft on best player available Regardless of what position it is.

Harden has an in-between game, he just chooses not to use it cause analytics.

Dru Smith very lucky he got that 500k this year. He should invest and manage a subway after all this-MettaWorldPanda

Looks like a nice kid.

He is a good shooter. Reminds me a lot of Matt Williams of UCF who is also good. Kennard hits 43% of his 3's and hits 85% plus from the free thrown line. He had a positive A-TO ratio as well, but it's not spectacular.

I saw the Duke-SC game. He was 11-1-2 in 28 minutes. Thornwell (24-6-5) blew by him many times. Luke picked up 5 PF too. It was pretty one-sided. I am a big fan of Thornwell, by the way, who may not even go in the first round.

Simply put, that 6-5 wingspan is a problem for me. Check out this list, sorted by wingspan. These are SG. Almost all the prospects we have discussed are longer than he is (Dorsey is the same and undrafted Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk - still a good player for SXF are a little shorter in length):

http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements/2017/all/sg/all/1/wingspan/desc

Thornwell and Donovan Mitchell have 6-10 wingspans. They are smart too. They'll clog the passing lanes much better and maybe even get some steals and rebounds.

Look at that wimpy defense at 2:27.

If I had to choose between Thornwell (who again may not even be selected in the first round) and Kennard, I'll take Thornwell 10 out of 10.

If I just want to draft a shooter, I'll take Frank Mason (he's 5-11 but has a wingspan almost the same as Kennard.) Mason is far and away the best shooter of the class, especially from distance.

It's likely Frank Mason is available in the mid to late second round. He may not even get drafted.

Watch Kennard in this video too. He's #5. How am I supposed to get excited?

Maybe they wouldn't get swept though.

Anyway, you're completely ignoring my point. We're not a contender and we shouldn't conduct ourselves in the off season like we're one player away from a chip.

Yea' it's more of an underrated part of Harden's game than something his skillset limits like Lonzo

Just heard an interview with Mitchell. This guy will be great for the postgame interviews. He already realizes the importance of diet and eats his fruit and vegetables. He said he has a ceasar salad everyday, and usually grilled chicken. At worst he says he'll go for a steak every now and then. He said he knows what it takes to be great, saying he was in the locker room after game one of the finals and saw Klay about to cry and then go shoot until 3:30 AM. What I heard was that he impressed at his Heat workout. If J Rich got a standing ovation, Mitchell may have gotten roses thrown at his feet and a Wayne's World "are not worthy!" from Riley and Andy. :)

Look out for the Heat willing to trade up for Dennis Smith Jr if he falls close enough.

Why another PG when we don't have a suitable SG, SF or PF currently?

Dennis Smith might be the most underrated player in this draft. His talent is undeniable.

After this Dwight trade, Charlotte seems like they are definitely taking mitchell or kennard. Maybe our best bet at a player sliding is Markannen or Collins.
