Magic doin work!!!!

Lakers have given up on number 2 pick D'Angelo Russell and dealt him to Brooklyn for Brook Lopez! Hopefully this means NBA 2K stops making him a God after a couple of simulated off seasons.

I have heard Russell is a guy who is more into the lifestyle so don't see the change of scenery helping. I think LA won by virtue of getting the pick as Lopez is best player in deal and Mosgov is a negative.

This makes me happy they we didn't offer Deng a huge deal out of desperation last summer. Deng and Mozgov really screwed the Lakers up bad.

What's Brooklyn's reasoning behind that trade? Do they think Russel is worth taking on the extra salary AND giving up a pick?

My thinking is yes. They are shafted with no good picks for the next couple of years and they will be trash. Russel is just 21 and has shown sparks. They are probably hoping they get lucky and he blows up as that is a young piece they can build around. They know these next two years they are basically throw away seasons they can use to develop Russell and try to improve the team. That Mozgov contract will be huge when it expires too, probably around the time they hope to start gearing up their rebuild.

Quality deal for both teams imo. Russell is a lot better than pick 27 and the Lakers get out of Mozgov's deal

Pick 27 is not likely at all to pan out and Mozgov is off the books before the Nets have any chance of competing for anything at all.

D12 just got traded to the bobcats.

This is a crazy off season already and we are just getting started.

I love it. Crazy how some of these moves are happening out of no where.

I'm not a huge Russell fan, but I think this is exactly the type of deal Brooklyn needed to do.

It feels like a pretty adept trade by Magic Johnson because he immediately clears up the bad contract signed last summer and does so with no blood on his hands. It feels even more likely that Ball is the pick at #2 and Brook Lopez can actually play ball still (maybe the least discussed part of this deal).

From a Wolves perspective I sure hope he is done being shrewd. We don't need LAL to pop up anytime soon, but with Ingram, Lonzo, and Brook, then with Paul George on the way, it feels like they will be pulling out of their slide before too long.

Someone on the clippers board just said DeAndre Jordan is available via trade. It didn't sound like a very reputable source so I'm sure it's all hearsay, but it really feels like things are out of control (in a great way) pre-draft.

And I don't know if I like this deal for the Lakers as Russell still has potential but they def have the balls to pull the trigger for flexibility and getting vets. If they land George, they def likely jump ahed of us as Brook and George duo alone is a decent vet tandem. As long as they carry the load and the young guys produce they could be fighting for a playoff spot. They also could sign another big vet.

Wonder if that has to do with what LAC feels like CP3 and Blake will do in FA

Probably has to do with extending their window. There's not a major skillset drop from Jordan to Chandler, and get someone like Jackson (or whoever) to build around for the future.

Hearing on local radio they floated Jordan for Booker and 4. To which the Suns rightly said no. I think it depends on who's available at 4, but I think the most they would do is 4, Chandler, and maybe Dudley.

By the way, great YouTube clip Calinks. I actually remember watching one episode (or just the first 10 minutes) in college. I think that was when Pat Sajak and Chevy Chase had a brief late night talk show stint as well.

I don't think #4 could be involved because of the team control aspect (DJ has player option for '18-'19)

2018 Miami pick which is protected 1-7 would be more realistic and likely to be in teens

Miami pick, Chandler, Warren for DJ I think would be fair
