Is "cap space" back? It was a huge trading asset not too many years ago.

3 team trade
Orlando receives: 10th and 15th picks
Sacramento receives: 6th pick, Evan Turner
Portland receives: trade exception, clear bad contract

34th pick: Caleb Swanigan
Trade Koufos to get another 2nd rounder to get Frank Mason III
I would also love to take another bad contract for a late 1st to grab Ojeleye or someone, but I won't add that to my depth chart

PG: De'Aaron Fox/ Frank Mason III
SG: Buddy Hield/ Bogdan Bogdanovic
SF: Josh Jackson/ Garrett Temple
PF: Skal Labissiere/ Caleb Swanigan
C: Willie Cauley-Stein/ George Papagiannis

I know, I speculate a lot. I'm just so excited for the draft!

Judging by how expensive it was to clear cap by the Lakers and Hawks, I am thinking that the Blazers are getting off too easy here. The Kings are fine, but I think #26 needs to be involved. I would say it needs to go to either Orlando straight up or have it go to the Kings with #34 going to Orlando. This is the type of trade we need to be looking for though.

Edit: also, Evan Turner would most certainly be getting minutes on the team. He would definitely have to be on your depth chart.

I'm not too crazy about Evan Turner. Maybe we can extend the trade to get Deng and the 28th? He'd be a lot more useful to the Lakers than old Deng, so maybe it would be worth it for them to give up something to do the swap. Their salaries are nearly identical and Deng has fallen off a cliff while Turner is technically in his prime.

I actually agree that Deng would probably be a better fit than Turner, but why do the Lakers do that? It's not like they save money. They just rearrange deck chairs, but find that one of the deck chairs looks a little newer and better than the other deck chairs. I think the Lakers would counter with a future 2nd or two. I just don't see a deal there.

This is a really exciting draft if you're a Kings fan. My preferred outcome is to stick with the 5 and 10 and draft Fox and BPA at 10 (even if it's another guard). If Fox isn't there, Jackson and best PG available at 10. Not wild about taking another big in this draft.

Given the rebuild it probably also makes sense to make a trade or two to acquire future assets in exchange for taking on salary. That seems to be the small-medium market key to long term success in today's NBA.

FYI for those headed to the draft party, it appears they are moving it to inside locations due to the heat:

I accept that future 2nd or two lol. I just think the Lakers are trying to be competitive, especially after trading for Brook Lopez and looking at acquiring Paul George. They would rather win this year because they don't have their pick. Their starting lineup would be:
Lonzo Ball
Evan Turner
Brandon Ingram
Paul George
Brook Lopez

Not good but they'll think it is.

And you really think we are gonna use that 5 mil haha...I would have like to see how he did with a yr under Joeger's teaching. Obviously he disagreed.

I didn't care to see Galloway develop here. Nothing personal, just didn't see a long term relationship.

You're on the right track. Just flip Mason for someone that won't be a defensive liability and your cooking with gas.

Hawks are talking to the Kings and Nuggets about Milsap .

I do not think the Kings will work a trade at the end of the day but it is happening . We are in talks .

https://www.denverstiffs.com/2017/6/20/15844376/could-dwight-howard-trade-signal-paul-millsap-to-denver-nuggets

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst had this to say about the rumors swirling around Millsap in an ESPN video interview:

“There are three or four teams out there that are willing to give Paul Millsap a max-level contract, and sources have told me that the Hawks have already begun getting some feelers on Paul Millsap sign-and-trades. Teams like the Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, Denver Nuggets [are] interested in Paul Millsap, and this is so interesting Lisa because at midseason Paul Millsap was put on the trade block and there was a revolt in the locker room and Mike Budenholzer, the team president pushed back against it. They took him off the trade block and then here we are a few months later - they're probably going to lose Paul Millsap anyway and Mike Budenholzer is no longer in charge of the team.”

What for do we need Millsap?? He's a vet and will be over payed so can easily become a "bad contract of Paul Millsap" later as Deng in LA. Also we have to fall down as much as possible to increase our chances to get Porter in 2018, and Millsap will steal Skal's minutes.
I see absolutely no reasons in this signing.

Yea.. I don't think there's a cold chance in hell Portland is using the #15 to drop salary.

I think it's definitely possible. They made it clear they are looking to trade one or 2 first rounders this year to clear salary. Most others tell me the 15th isn't enough to take on Turner's salary.

We seriously need to pick up some 1st round picks in this years draft, because If for some VERY strange reason (but not impossible), both Jackson and Fox are available at 5. The Kings should seriously seriously attempt to trade up to the #6 so that they can get both of these guys. Heck, if Jackson goes 4 to the Suns, we take Fox at 5, we should seriously look into trading up to get Isaac. Two great scenarios, however, we need to trade our cap space to pick up a couple 1st round picks this year so that we can package them with the #10 and #34.

No way the Magic move down from 6 in that case. They're in a similar situation as the Kings: they need talent at nearly every position (with the only possible exception being PF). They aren't moving down to 10 to pick up a Collins or Markkanen (especially when they already have another mid-20s selection).
