People on here are acting like we traded a player with superstar potential. We're most likely going to get Paul George and we will be active in 2018. Chillllll!

I like the trade. Russell was supposed to be PG and leader of the team. He never showed that he can handle these duties.

Uh, we did **** trade a player with superstar potential.

Just watch him get the green light for once, and watch out. It will not only hurt because we got rid of him for basically nothing, but because we didn't give him a fair chance to begin with.

Just hoping we groom Ball differently, we blew it big time with Russell.

then why not shift Russell to SG??? To me, it comes down to if Ball at PG will be better than Russell at SG cuz we all know Lopez is better than Mozgov. If they can hit on 27 and 28 like they did with Clarkson and Nance, than the team has something.

Apparently lakers offered Russell for 9th pick and Dallas declined. Guys I think the lakers brass did dangle Russell and teams did not want him. Take off those glasses and realize that their is a reason many people did not want Russell. The value that many of you see in Russell is not the value that many around the league feel. I really think his immaturity bothers a lot of people around the league. Let's move on now.

I started questioning DLo's heart and that competitive fire in him. Perhaps the Lakers' management and coaches likewise saw this on Russell.

Not a Russell lover.....but I agree with your question. Why don't you slide him to the 2? But are you willing to at least accept the possibility that they asked him, and he told Magic to go F**k off?

It's a possibility....that's all I'm saying. And if that's the case....DLo had to go.

It's the real question to DLO-nation.......where was the value for him? You think this was the first team we contacted?? Come on...your all smarter than that. Mediocre offense.....total crap defense....with attitude to boot.

Blown 2nd pick. Blown Free-agent pick. Both remedied. Thanks to Brooklyn for existing.

I was never a huge fan of Dlo... in theory you could have him on a winning team if you could hide him on defense, but why would you hide a guy like Dlo if offensively he's not a killer. He's probably the only player I've seen doing fancy through the leg dribbles without purpose... literally would dribble in place, not setting up the defender but just f****** dribbling in place. He doesn't create separation, doesn't get into the lane with regularity, and i truly doubt he would ever be able to create his own shot against playoff level defense. Defensively he just had no pride, he rarely took on the challenge of defending the best perimeter player, died on screens every game, and would never bend his knees. This is a huge summer for him, athletically he needs to showing big improvement as he's yet to put a complete game together from tipoff to the final buzzer. Kind of frustrating to watch him show flashes of potential but never put it all together. With a little more strength and speed he could put it all together or maybe the change of position to sg would help him immensely, but I get the feeling you're always going to have to hide him on defense.

IMO his ceiling factoring in him being on a winning team and grinding on defense I see 18-20pts. Meanwhile, a scoring of average of 15-17 is more likely. If he continues to coast on defense he could average 20+, but how many years can a team give the greenlight to a guy who isn't translating into wins.

That said, I wish the value on D'lo was much higher. Honestly, I thought with his 3pt potential and the direction of the league he'd be worth a late lottery pick at the least. I wish we could've taken the 22nd pick at least. But dumping Mozgov is a huge win for our free agency hunt next year.

I'm lukewarm on Lopez, dude grabs 5 rebounds a game. Where's the hustle and pride there? I like what he does offensively and I think he'll be a good sparring partner for Zubac. I think that starting spot will be Ivica's by the end of the year. The kid needs to continue to transform his body.

Spacing-wise Lopez is going to put Jordan Clarkson in heaven. When Clarkson had a crappy shooter like Ryan Kelly stretching the floor he was nearly on par with Chris Paul running the pick and roll. Offensively we'll be alright.. especially with the addition of Zo. But defensively, I hope that's where guys like Nwaba/Zubac/Nance steal heavy minutes from the likes of Clarkson and Lopez.

I'm going to be pissed if we trade away both our draft picks in a George deal. These picks are life for the Lakers at the moment. Paul George is 0-16 in game winners, he's definitely not a superstar. We're not going to instantly become a playoff team even with him. We need to draft more gems like Nance/Zubac with these picks and continue to grind until Golden State ends their dominance in a few years.

I'm o-kay with the trade. Now that I think about it more, it seems the Lakers were a bit too giving. Nets were trying to offload Lopez for two seasons, if I remember correctly. So, Mozgov-Lopez is a fair trade. And then to just get the #27 pick for Russell is kind of a head-scratcher. I guess the logic is that Lopez has 1 year on his contract versus Mozgov's three years, so you sweeten the pot with D'Lo, but ah, still a bit cheap if you ask me. Plus now the Lakers have no shooting guard. And nobody better say Clarkson.

Unless they're going to pull off the Clarkson/Black/#28&#27 for Paul George and run

Ball/Ennis
Ingram/Young?/Nwaba
Paul George/Deng/Brewer
Randle/Nance
Lopez/Zubac

Rumors say Pacers are playing hard ball (how the heck they think that is smart, I don't know) and asking for Randle, Clarkson, #27, #28 *and* #2 (Lonzo Ball) for PG-13.

Really? Trolling would be doing that in the DLO appreciation thread, which I am completely avoiding. That was a troll post on Magic if we are playing that. It's all good. I've said all I need to say on the ex-Laker.

Lopez is a one year rental until the FA class of 2018. Would you rather have Lakers still have Mozgov's contract ?
