Ignore his contract when answering.

He had moments, early on, but he's not right for a team that runs, and there's no way to ignore the contract. I thought about it every time i saw him touch the ball

Couldn't be any more disappointed. I really wanted to see what Russ would do off-ball with Lonzo running the ship. He's going to throw up a lot of empty stats in Brooklyn. Probably 20 PPG, but he probably does that here, more efficiently. And the what-if will sting for a bit.

I have zero expectations for Brook. Solid big; won't fault him if his production is low. But I would have felt a lot better about this trade AFTER we secured George. God help us if we're stuck with Clarkson or Swaggy P as our starting 2.

thankyouKOBE wrote:I'm o-kay with the trade. Now that I think about it more, it seems the Lakers were a bit too giving. Nets were trying to offload Lopez for two seasons, if I remember correctly. So, Mozgov-Lopez is a fair trade. And then to just get the #27 pick for Russell is kind of a head-scratcher. I guess the logic is that Lopez has 1 year on his contract versus Mozgov's three years, so you sweeten the pot with D'Lo, but ah, still a bit cheap if you ask me. Plus now the Lakers have no shooting guard. And nobody better say Clarkson.

Unless they're going to pull off the Clarkson/Black/#28&#27 for Paul George and run

Ball/Ennis
Ingram/Young?/Nwaba
Paul George/Deng/Brewer
Randle/Nance
Lopez/Zubac

Rumors say Pacers are playing hard ball (how the heck they think that is smart, I don't know) and asking for Randle, Clarkson, #27, #28 *and* #2 (Lonzo Ball) for PG-13.

After this deal they will not play ball at all. Now Lakers has lost their leverage after this trade. Now their backs is against the wall because what is their line up if they don't get George? wouldn't that been better without this trade?

I don't most of us will be complaining if they did this after getting George of even waiting it out till draft day. The deal is not too good but the timing makes it worse.

Ok, a night's sleep: I'm okay with this but it hurts a bit, DLo was our kid. But blame has to go to Mitch and Jim for those two deck-chairs he bought for our purple and gold Titanic, Moz and Deng. I still woudl have preferred to stretch or buy out the contracts of one but I have to respect that magic and Rob have a better idea of value and if they thought the kid was expendable ...

Really does feel like we traded teh 2 pick for Lopez but that's not really correct, as noted by others. And Lopez is a very good player

Truth is, we won't know how to reckon this trade for at least a year, will we?

Just please don't seel the farm for PG this year - build a team for him to come to in 18

I would love to hear what Luke has to say about this trade and trading DLo away.

LAL essentially received three firsts for Russell. It would have taken at least a first to dump Mosgov, one to acquire Lopez and they came away with the 27th.

Its all good everybody. We are going to get George, Bron and Westbrook. Westbrook will meet Durant in the most hyped Western Conference Finals in the history of league. Then we will be back.

Well if they didn't have a brain and were able to not only exist as a living human being, but also as an NBA Front Office exec I'd question why some of the guys here have brains and do/say way less intelligent things.

Jim Buss does exist.

Brooklyn with a 1st is like an oxymoron. Are you forecasting what we may flip for Brook and/or #27?

I did not say they actually received three picks. I said they essentially received three picks. It would have cost one to dump Mosgov. It would have cost another to acquire Lopez. The third is the 27th.

If the front office was even thinking about trading a former #2 pick from 2 years ago, then that means that player isn't what they wanted. Plain and simple. This is a business with millions of moving parts, and Russell disappointed a lot of people. Is he a human being? Of course. I feel bad for him, and I recognize that he's still one of the top basketball players on earth. But Laker management wasn't getting what they wanted from him.

I also think that Kobe was consulted in regards to everyone on the roster that he played with. He told Rob and Magic who he thought was soft and who he thought was tough.

Magic and Pelinka become in charge.

- Bench Russell
- "Needs to become a better leader"
- "Needs to be more mature, have better work habits"
- "Brandon Ingram is the only untouchable"
- Leak to Kevin Ding that Russell is "inconsistent with professionalism," question his "ability to take criticism."

They then find out the best they can get for him is a salary dump and the 27th pick.

HMMMM.. I WONDER WHY HE HAS NO MORE TRADE VALUE!!

This was happening even before Magic and Rob got here, check the facts.
