Trade ideas thread
With the off season looking like it is going to be busy this summer, I figured maybe we should try to keep the trade ideas in a separate thread, so those that are just coming for news do not have to dig through all the posts.

Re: Trade ideas thread
With the way Connelly and Arturus were talking today they are looking to take steps and start building around the young guys.
Utah is desperate to keep Hayward, and they may take a chance on George.
So what about
Nuggets out
Chandler/ Barton/ Faried/ Arthur/ 13th overall pick
In
Favors/ Burks/ Diaw (non guaranteed until July 15th)/ 24th pick/ 30th pick
Utah out
Burks/ FAvors/ Diaw/ 24th pick/ 30th pick
In
George/ Arthur/ Ellis
George has said that the player he would like to play with most in the NBA is Hayward, and this gets them that chance. They will need a new starting PG but they should have the room under the tax to bring back Hill (who is close friends with George) and they get a stretch 4 while Lyles improves of is replaced.
Pacers out
George/ Ellis/
IN
Chandler/ Barton/ Faried/ 13th overall pick
The Pacers reportedly want at least 1 starter and a pick, this gets them 3 starting quality players that should all have value at the trade deadline after the team sells some tickets and it gets them a prospect for long term.
The Nuggets could then flip Diaw to the Spurs for Tony Parker, who reportedly really wants to play next year.
Then sign Ingles as the Jazz cannot afford him.
Gives us
Murray/ Mudiay/ Parker
Harris/ Burks/ Beasley/
Ingles/ Hernangomez/ Miller
Favors/ late 1st
Jokic/ Plumlee/

PG has a chance to choose where he plays/lives....and it won't be Utah. There's no way he commits to Utah after the season and they know it, I doubt they stretch to rent him.

It gives them a way to convince Hill and Hayward to resign, and to do that and add to the team they are going to have to move Favors and Burks. Even if George walks in a year they are better off than they maybe by the end of this summer.

Re: Trade ideas thread
Denver out
Chandler, Arthur, Nelson for Anderson, Dekker, and Beverly
Gives the Nuggets a big stretch 4 to spread the floor, a young SF that has very good potential to be a 3 and d guy, and a defensive PG that can fit well with Jokic.
The Rockets get a couple of good fits while saving a little over $7 million off the cap which could help them sign the big name free agent that they are trying to get this year.

I know how high you are on Sam Dekker, but Anderson's contract is a disaster. There's not enough upside in Dekker, for me, to take on something like that on.

Yeah, I'm with MHZ. I actually somewhat like Anderson, but that contract scares the hell out of me.
Maybe it's an overpay, but I suggested something like #13 and #49 for Beverly and Dekker on the trade board.

Anderson's contract may be too big, but it's something Denver could afford and I'm with Rebel on Dekker. He's not a good fit in Houston but I think he'd be a great fit with Denver. Rebel's proposal may be a little bit of an overpay but I'd do it.

Re: Trade ideas thread
With the Nets/ Lakers deal that just went down, I agree with MHZ and RRFB. The Nets just got a guy 2 years removed from being the number 2 overall pick for a contract as bad as Mozgov.

At least ask for our #2 back in this years draft, with Harden's extension coming up you might as well ask for the moon.

With CHI looking at the possibility of moving Butler, how about this one.
CHI trades #16
DEN trades Wilson Chandler

That is the unknown, Chicago has never seemed willing to do the full rebuild after the whole Jordan retiring blowup and rebuild taking years to find good young players. There are rumors that they want to do a rebuild, but there are also rumors that they want to do a reload. It is great value for the 16th pick, and I think I might do it to clear the cap room, but I don't think anybody knows what the Bulls are really wanting to do right now, they have no one to build around if Butler is gone.

Re: Trade ideas thread
ATL want a S&T offer for Milsap, best I'm offering is Chandler and Arthur. Hawks are going into rebuild mode and don't want to sign Milsap to a long-term extension, both guys are good players on moveable contracts. DEN could just sign Milsap and just dump both Arthur & Chandler if they want IMO. No need to overpay (since you're going to have to sign Milsap anyway).

I'd toss Faried/Nelson at them too if they wanted him.... I don't know that anyone desires Arthur at the moment

Re: Trade ideas thread
I'm not sending Atlanta a dime for Millsap. Every contract on the roster is movable and most of the guys not on rookie scale contracts have some benefit to a decent team. Send them elsewhere for future picks if you need additional space. Why send them to Atlanta for nothing, when Atlanta has zero say in where Millsap goes?
I'm a firm believer that a team like Denver should always have at least 1-2 future firsts coming their way. Future 1s are critical in putting together trades for high-end players, and that's the avenue to get a high end player here in Denver. Even if we keep kicking those picks down the line and not using them, I want to have them for when trade options do arise.

I suppose it depends on how bad the Nuggets or someone else wants Milsap. Ideally you just sign him as a FA and don't trade for him.

Re: Trade ideas thread
You could offer Nikola Jokic to Atlanta. It doesn't matter. They still don't have any say in where he goes. Millsap will allow them to be involved in this and maybe get something back only if he needs them to be involved (if a team without space is his preferred destination).
Sweetening the pot with Atlanta literally does nothing. Unlike at the deadline, they can't send him anywhere unless he's already agreed to sign with that team and just needs Atlanta to help facilitate. Millsap himself is the only one who matters to Denver.
Atlanta is trying to create some leverage where they have none currently by presenting to Millsap and his camp "hey, we can get you to Cleveland (or wherever)" which is something he cannot do on his own.

Taxpayers cannot receive a player on a sign and trade, so that helps the Nuggets.
Here is my thing, if someone like Chris Paul or a couple of guys like George Hill and Ingles agree to sign with the Nuggets, then I would be open to doing a sign and trade with Atlanta for Millsap. If you remember when the Warriors signed Iggy, the Nuggets refused to do a sign and trade, and the Jazz ended up getting 4 picks to take on expiring deals. I would prefer that the Nuggets not give up 4 picks to clear salary, and given the premium put on cap space this year so far, I think it maybe worthwhile to do a sign and trade.
Right now we have $37 million in cap space (counting the cap holds for Plumlee and the draft pick), a guy like CP is going to take $35.35, so if you sign him than you will have to trade some combination of Chandler, Faried, Arthur, Nelson, Barton, or Mudiay.
I can see a guy like Hill getting $22 million a year, and Ingles getting $12-14 million a year, so $36 million again.
You can renounce Plumlee and add $5.8 million to the cap and you can trade the pick for a future pick and save $1.8 million, but that is not going to give you the money to sign Millsap.
In either scenario you have to trade at least $18 million in a sign and trade to get Millsap for a contract starting at $26 million, so once free agency starts than you have to either have enough cap space to add what you need or you have to be prepared to lose value. Now if you could get the Hawks lined up now that you will give them Chandler and Arthur in a sign and trade for Millsap but you want a 1st with it, that would be okay. You just cannot get past the start of free agency with a plan and guys interested but not have the cap space you need to pull off the free agency you want.
Personally I hope they trade Barton, Chandler, Arthur, and Nelson by the end of tomorrow night but I doubt they even trade 1 of them so a sign and trade makes a ton of sense if your goal is to add more than an MLE type SF and 1 all star type.

Re: Trade ideas thread
Carmelo Anthony forced a trade to New York and they've done nothing since because they had to gut their team of all their role players and young players. Sign-and-trade makes so little sense when you can get someone without trading pieces.
