Is Greg Monroe destined to be a Hawk?

Post#1 » by atlantabbq99 » Wed Jun 21, 2017 1:15 pm

The Dwight trade is a shocker. Hawks now have a huge hole at Center, and the list of talent at Center in free agency is very very thin

*Greg Monroe - Budz has had a man crush on Monroe for along time now because of his passing
*JaVale McGee - Deeply flawed players, but has shown he can play euro-ball or Bud-ball with the GSW
*Zaza - Hawks' fan favorite and has shown he can play Bud-ball with the GSW
*Roy Hibbert - Had one good year but has basically struggled his whole career, poor rebounder, but still listed at 7'2
*Donatas Motiejunas - Has struggled his whole NBA career but is still a 7 footer
*Marreese Speights - Showed alot of talent with the GSW, a guy Travis Schlenk is very familiar with, maybe its time for him to be a starter at age 29
*Serge Ibaka - Would be an undersized center, but has enough toughness to hold his own, and also has a decent jump shot

Greg Monroe and Marreese Speights are the only two guys i can think of that Schlenk and Budz are thinking about in replacing Dwight. If the Hawks can get one of these guys and another decent free agent, I think i won't be so upset about the Dwight trade.

Monroe may only be available next season via trade:

Greg Monroe to exercise $17.88 million player option with Bucks

Greg Monroe has informed the Milwaukee Bucks that he will exercise his $17.88 million player option for next season, thus opting for unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2018, league sources confirmed to ESPN.

It'd sure be nice to have a young center already in the fold like Bebe Nogueria or Edy Tavares.

Even a young guy like Dom Sabonis or Jakob Poeltl would be nice. (We were rumored to be in trade talks for them when Millsap was being shopped.)

Jusuf Nurkic would be ideal about now.

Gross. Might as well just pick a random fan every game to start.

Enes Kanter could be another option via trade.

Don't think we have anything of value to trade, also doesn't he have a trade kicker?

Speights Could be the only option now. Speights Could be the superman version of Pero.

Budz loves bigs who are great at setting screens and picks, and Speights has shown he is great at that when he was with the GSW
