fair enough if Lopez goes to Houston but who the hell is going to Indiana then, Houston would have to give up something to Indiana (and who do they have, are they going to go give up one of their young assets or make a package there).

Re: Woj: Dlo & Moz to Nets for lopez and 27th pick
3 way trade with Houston makes a lot of sense actually.
Lakers give: Julius Randle, #27 pick, #28 pick
Lakers receive: Paul George
Pacers give: Paul George
Pacers receive: Julius Randle, Patrick Beverley, #27 pick, #28 pick
Rockets give: Patrick Beverley
Rockets receive: Brook Lopez
Doesn't cost the Lakers anything extra. Actually helps them get the Lopez contract off the books a year early. Houston just has to give up Beverley who they were going to trade anyway and they get a serviceable big and a huge expiring contract. Works for all 3 teams.

so we're giving up both Lopez and Randle.
Hard pass on that thanks. Lopez at least gives us some production immediately. if we do that, we have P.G and who?

Ya no way the lakers give up both brook and randle along with two first round picks, makes no sense.

Lord Page 1 is the exact reason I didn't come on here yesterday. Great trade...no need to explain why, if I have to do that then this board isn't as basketball savvy as I thought it was.
Now I guess I will continue to read the other 29 pages of guys b*tch*** about an inconsistent, immature guard.

We didn't trade D'Angelo Russell for one year of Brook Lopez. We traded for his expiring contract.

Lol. George is a legit superstar in his prime. Look at his playoff numbers this year. Guys like Lopez randle Clarkson and late first round picks are all completely disposable compared to him.

Re: Woj: Dlo & Moz to Nets for lopez and 27th pick
Pointgod, his (Noah's) contract is so bad I'm willing to bet the Knicks will have to end up either stretching him or flat out waiving him and doing a buyout. His knees are wrecked and the rest of the league knew it. D-Lo had to be collateral damage with Mozgov. Fans here have gotten too sentimental over players, they overvalued him and his ability which was questionable from day 1.Pointgod wrote:I don't think Lakers fans realize how bad those Deng and Mozgov contracts are. Let's do a thought experiment, go look at Joakim Noah's contract. Now would you take on that contract for two low first round picks? How about 1 unprotected pick from the Knicks. You most likely say they would need to include Porzingis. And that's exactly the point. These Clarkson for for 12th pic trades arent realistic or plausible
Bottom line to get a sure fire 20 point scoring center who can actually fit in Walton's offense because he can hit 3's and to come away with another 1st rounder to use as amo for another deal is pure genius. If guys can't understand that then they never will.

You know whats even funnier than people falling for this nonsense and not checking these accounts is that even after you tell them the tweet is fake and its confirmed to be fake they still dont read our responses and sit there and post trades regarding Lopez and Rockets. LMAO!
God I missed this board!!

Ok I tried to back read on some more pages, couldn't do...too many arm-chair GM's here who think they know how to run a professional NBA team. It's a reason I don't read these boards in the summer, guys here act like the damn Atom bomb just got dropped again.

to me... i can see the logic in this trade for the lakers.... but id be concerned because magic is looking like billy king... just giving up value and overpaying to get something done instead of being collective and getting a good deal.
im just not sure how the lakers dont come out of this with #22 and #27 or the very least #22 and maybe levert in there as well. this trade could have been done and also been closer to fair value for LA

Wonder if the front office had an idea this was going to happen, cause it's significant in that it makes it more difficult to get max slots under the cap. Lower cap makes the moz contract take up more % of the cap

I kinda think your splitting hairs at this point. You like the trade or you dont. Yeah....the 22nd vs the 27th would be nice, but if you wanted the deal done and it was hanging on that, did you really get hung out to dry?
You tell me......and I'll rely on your honesty: do you have a guy in mind at the 22 who'd be a great fit, that you wont get at the 27? If you know of lost talent....that one thing. Otherwise it's just kinda optics.
If you hate the deal at face-value....then fair enough. But I don't think it's a fair criticism to point to the next hill on the horizon, and say "what about that".

Do you think we even keep these picks? They come with guaranteed salary commitments and iffy talent that late in the first round. My guess is that we move them. For a team wanting to have max slots they seem like excess weight rather than true "assets". I'd rather pick in the top of the second round than at the end of the first given our want to keep slots open next offseason.

us trying to deal #2 for #5 and #10 seemed like a good plan. we'll have to settle for fox or tatum or whoever at #5 and then offer deng #10 #27 and #28 for george. too bad this didn't pull through. would be great if it did though. i wont mind replacing dlo with fox.
also. max kellerman mentioned on first take that we'd essentially have brook lopez and paul george's bird rights.
that said. maybe magic and rob actually know what they're doing. let's give them a chance.

sure, sure....fair enough. I totally agree. I'm just making the point about did we really take it in the shorts, getting the 27th vs the 22nd pick. At some point you need to pull the trigger. You either like the deal or you don't...and late-20's vs early-20's shouldn't play that much of a roll.

is there a particular reason why the pacers would be interested in pat beverley?
because i don't see why they don't just take randle and the 2 picks
i kinda want to keep bropez on our roster
