I feel you, but sorry son, you win with stars.

Booker and KP are them. Chriss and Bender are supporting players.

Technically neither are stars yet, they have potential to be but I would absolutely not anoint either to that level.

Of course not, but that's the plan...

Nope there isnt going to be a player at 10 that is going to be anything close to Dirk or Westbrook. I can see them trying to get a player like Zack Collins who will be a good stretch 5 in a couple years but DSJ or Lauri would be killed by Pop for being a whimp or not developing.

I was just going to say before reading this that I could see Pop liking Markkanen, and then I thought of Collins too. The Spurs always play good D and play the right way, but what they've never really had is a 7 footer who can hit 3's...or just a big in general who could. They might think that they need that to compete with GS. Who would block Markkanen's shot? Obviously he's young and would be nervous. But they also need a PG, so if they liked any of those guys....and they have done well with French PGs in the past.

Gasol led the NBA in 3pt percentage... Under 1 3pter a game but at close to 50 percent

I'm sure the Spurs would love to get in on Porzingis if they had the pieces to trade. A 7'3" center/forward that can defend that well on the interior and has range out to the 3 point line? He'd be a monster playing alongside Kawhi Leonard.

I really hope it's Bender OR Chriss and not BOTH..

Bledsoe, Bender or Chris, 4th pick and one of Miami's should get it done... but who knows at this point

I will say this, there are working hard over there which one can only speculate that something is brewing

Bledsoe/Chriss/#4

Bledsoe/#4/Miami picks

Im starting to like Pick 4 assuming Jackson is there.

If Noah is attached to Porzingis.. I would offer..
Chriss, Miami 2018 pick, Knight...

Knight can be of service given minutes and main ball handling role. Noah is done... Should be retiring soon... His mileage is crazy high.

I don't get this. Warren, for one, is a better fit/bigger need than Chriss if we do get Porzingis. We'd be trading 4 (Jackson/Tatum) and thus if we move Warren we have no small forward, and Warren showed he can be damn good prior to injury and the last month after injury. He was our best player over large portions of the season. Chriss is no sure thing. He's athletic with a great attitude and definitely has upside, but he's averaging 9 and 4 or something like that and this trade involves moving him for a dude only 2 years older who is averaging 18 and 7 and is 7'2" with 3 point range and insane length, who can handle the ball on the break. His upside is every bit as high as Chriss's, if not higher, and he is much closer to reaching it. Dirk with better handles and rim protection ability. I mean, if we trade for him and Booker is not involved and you are anything but thrilled I don't know what to say.

A. not asking you to get it,

B. he is my favorite player on the Suns so ya I will be disappointed.

C. I think KP is a huge injury risk, name me players over 7'0 tall that have had long healthy star careers, I cant think of any.

So if we were to trade Bledsoe...what then? Do we hang our hopes on a rookie stepping in and running the whole show, hope Ulis had enough time to step in, and then add a later draft pg, start Knight :banghead: , or hope we can grab one of the many decent pg FAs?

Anyone care to grab FA Milos Teodosic if we trade Bledsoe?

I would trade both if Suns get to keep all their picks. I mean Porzingis is combination of Chriss and Bender... But taller and lengthier.

While I agree with you, I think the point is that the knicks want the 4th pick. like the trade is contingent on it

Boston has all the assets in the world, but they can't waste cap space after making the ECF last year, and the Knicks have to clear out terrible contracts if they want any flexibility in the future. Offer something along the lines of #4 + Bledsoe + TJ for KP + Noah with room to negotiate. They get JJ, a really good PG in Bledsoe, and a versatile forward in TJ all while losing Noah's mistake of a contract; we add a young star in Porzingis that fits our team like a glove.

If they get JJ, then I don't think they need Warren anyway. I would offer them Bledsoe, 4, Miami pick next year, our pick in 2019 top 5 protected, and then take back Noah. (For those wondering why I wouldn't offer Knight, Chandler, Dudley, etc...it's because they wouldn't want them). I don't now if that's enough though since it's too much into the future. KP is one of the few players I would personally possibly throw Bender in for, but I don't know if he has a ton of trade value, so I'd try to leave him out. But Bledsoe and three first rounders (one being 4 in a stacked draft) while taking on a bad contract should be enough.

Your offer leaves a hole at 3. If we have Porzingis, Bender, Chriss, and a bunch of bigs, we don't really need many more picks except maybe our own next year..we would probably have to take Brooks (who can play the point) or Jawun Evans at 32 if there though.

True, but Warren played a lot of 4 for us this year too and he would be a great sixth man if they really want to start JJ day one, since it's unlikely he'll be ready for heavy minutes right away. I added Warren more because Phil said he wanted 2 young starters with potential and a high pick in that video. I think I'd be fine with your offer too, but that's nearing the limit of far I'd be willing to go with giving up our own picks.

I know some people don't like it, but our FO talked a lot about playing him at the 3 when they drafted him, and if he develops into someone Andrei Kirilinko-like some of us project then he'd probably be just fine there. If you can defend it, then you can play it in today's NBA. I'm more worried about PG, I like Ulis a lot but I'd be a little worried going into the season with him as the only PG on the roster.

I'd rather keep Bender than Warren I think, but they probably two of my favorite players so it's tough. I'd rather deal picks as long as they reasonably protected than players I have grown to know being a fan....and with so many young guys, our own next year, and only missing our own in 2019 when these guys are all probably really hitting their stride, we probably don't need one anyway, but it would still be top 5 protected.

I would actually do more if needed. Obviously you trade the minimum you can to get him, but I would eat Noah's deal, include Bledsoe, Warren, and both Chriss and Bender and pick 4 if needed. I would. Our team will suck next year anyways due to youth and in that scenario we still have our own pick, which we could use to add a big next to Kristaps. We'd have a 2nd season of being awful, with another high pick to get a SF or PG, and from there, that offseason when Chandler, Dudley, and others come off the books you can max out 2 guys. Become a legit contender right then and there when GS is older and more broken up, and then go over the cap to mini-max (b/c they are on rookie deals) Booker and Zingis.

This game is about superstars. With Zingis and Booker you have 2 near certain future ones. All you need at that point is to sign one in FA and the rest of the ring-chasing veterans will provide depth.

Honestly if I'm McD I read whatever future picks I need to in order to get Booker, Zingis and either Chriss or Bender on the floor together. I'm partial to Bender staying because I think he has a higher ceiling and more unicorn potential, but if we can just keep one of those dudes this trade goes from A+ to A++

I like Bender better than Chriss but would rather the Suns trade Bender in a trade for Porzingis. I like the attitude Chriss has, doesn't back down from anyone, tough as nails, would be a nice contrast with Porzingis who seems like a more laid back kind of dude.

Return to Phoenix Suns
