WOULD U DO IT? renty said escobar is a young pujols btw....

I had heard some fans talking about a supposed Edgar Renteria-Jon Garland swap that White Sox GM Kenny Williams turned down. Most of the message board rumors floating around are pretty unreliable but when Buster Olney

Damn...I guess I would do it. We definitely need the pitching. Hitting is great, but pitching wins in the playoffs.

Renteria has been one of the most consistent bats we've had the past two seasons, though. But, he didn't do too well in the AL, so I'm not sure why the Sox would want to do it.

I wouldn't do it. Give up a great hitting and defense ss in renteria for a 7-7, 4.15 era.

This trade doesn't make sense. Garland isn't nearly enough for Renteria. Moving Renteria and inserting Escobar at SS is very interesting, but you would have to get a pitcher like Arroyo, Willis or Harden.

The AL is also a nightmare for Renteria, so I doubt he ever wants to play for the AL again, unless it's to close out his career.

there's no way i would do this trade. i don't think garland is that good at least not worth renteria, he's also not a young pitcher which i don't really like

There is just no way the Braves could afford to lose Edgar. Renteria has been the only consistent Brave since day 1.

Chipper might have something to say about that.

If Chipper wasn't injured and it didn't take Smoltz calling him out. Chipper might be the hottest Braves going right now. Edgar has been there from the start. Edgar is easily the MVP of this team.

Um, Chipper is having a better year than Edgar, even with injuries.

Chipper is the better player of the two. We are talking about who has been there from the start. Who has led this team. That is Edgar. Edgar is the MVP of this team. Edgar has been there from the start and has been very consistent. It took Smoltz to call Chipper out before he finally decided to play through his injuries.

If you ask every member of the Braves from FO all the way to the Players. It wouldn't surprise me at all when ask who is the guy that held this team together and is the MVP. They would all or the majority anyways will point to Edgar Renteria.
