No Tristan was a better defender in college, better offensive rebounder, better passer, much better shot blocker. Scouts think of Bam as more of a poor mans Dwight

I think Bam is very much cut from the looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane template. Tristan bust his ass on the boards and is a high-level garbageman offensively. Bam could be better, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I think Ike Anigbogu is a bigger version of TT in this draft. I prefer him to BAM, but I think if you can figure out which of the two of those guys is more likely to be able to hit a mid range shot consistently, they might be the better of the two.

The guy I mentioned two days ago I think we end up taking - BAM.

He's the similar version of the player we wanted last year, but without the character issues (Deyonta Davis).

I welcome the physical presence and 39 Inch vertical.

Think Jason Caffey, but taller and with hops.

So...nothing like Jason Caffey? :D

He's an athletic freak, protects the rim, plays hard, wasn't allowed to shoot jumpers at UK, was the 10th option on offense, he's also only 19. And at 17, why the hell not? There aren't any better players on the board at that point unless someone slips.

In reality I am hoping Mitchell or Kennard fall, that way we can dump Shaddy Shad. But I would really like BAM at 17

Personally one thing that I am down on him for is the one that a lot of people like rim for, rim protection. I really don't think he was that great at it in Kentucky. 2 blocks per 40 and 4.9 block percentage really aren't great numbers for a guy whose maybe one and only skill in NBA could be protecting the rim.

In what way is he "far more" of an athlete? Lydon showed up to the combine with the highest body fat % and still basically matched all of Leaf's numbers.

No step vert:
Leaf: 29
Lydon: 29.5

Max vert:
Leaf: 34.5
Lydon: 33.5

Lane Agility:
Leaf: 11.55
Lydon: 11.68

Shuttle Run:
Leaf: 3.27
Lydon: 2.81

Full Court Sprint:
Leaf: 3.27
Lydon: 3.46

You're right the numbers don't lie. But if he figures to carve out some sort of niche or specialist role, it would be a lob and D type player, with a better looking mid ranger and the ability to shoot 70% from the line potentially. I just personally believe that right now, he is the best player right now that will be on the board at 17.

I think BAM! has a lot more offensive potential than people are giving him credit for. 65% from the line ain't too shabby for a C, and he's shown decent mechanics on his jumper. I see of him as less of a poor man's Dwight and more of a rich man's Montrezl Harrell.

I don't really think combine numbers mean a whole lot, but Leaf's athletic ability combined with his ability to put it on the floor make him more versatile than Lydon.

Lydon is pretty one-dimensional, in my opinion.

two things that i really took away from John Horst's conference calls and introductory presser was:

1.) that he said they believe this is the core that they'll win a championship with. that leads me to believe that they're looking for role players and guys who fit with our core. not pieces to build around, but players who can fit specific roles.
2.) they're looking for guys with high floors....i.e. not taking home-run swings. safe bets. guys who can contribute a need right away.

will not be surprised if they pick guys with lower ceilings, but productive veteran college players.

I mean nobody really should ever run their offense through a Kenneth Faried.....

Agreed...that is why I could see Josh Hart, Jordan Bell, TJ Leaf (I think he has a pretty high floor), Justin Jackson being picked at 17...it's not what I would do, but like I said, it won't surprise me. One thing though, we do appear to be keyed in on a big man in the first round.

If you want real toughness just take Jordan Bell instead. Better defender and shot blocker too.

Basketball Insiders reporting we made a promise to BAM
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Promises are so stupid. I would be disappointed with that pick. Seems like a good dude though.
