Mets "VERY" Interested in Loretta

Post#1 » by Jose7 » Tue Jul 24, 2007 4:06 pm

The New York Daily News is reporting the Mets are very interested in acquiring Mark Loretta from the Astros prior to next Tuesday's trade deadline.
Loretta would fill the void created when Jose Valentin broke a bone in his right shin. Rueben Gotay has started the past two games at second base, but Loretta is an upgrade both offensively and defensively.

and i'm "VERY" happy to hear about this. this is the perfect fit. loretta can play every infield position. so if we trade for him now, we can still have gotay start. if gotay plays very well (like .320 well) he'll stay. if he doesn't, loretta will play. ML can also be the back up of reyes and wright.

this will defintely make our bench a lot stronger, and gives us a very solid #2 batter.

i'd also like to see if we can get another 'pen arm from the astros as well.

Id rather watch Gotay-Hernandez-Easley-Andersen platoon before we trade for this guy.
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.
