If no trades happen tonight, I will seriously question why we pulled the trigger on the #1/#3 trade so early. Without a trade it makes no sense.

I don't think there will be a trade to be honest. I think Ainge simply didn't like Fultz and had no plans on taking him. The guy Ainge likes (which I think is Fox or Smith) will be there at 3.

We are getting to the point where Ainge has waaay to many picks and they are just going to end up being burned because 25 man rosters are not allowed in the NBA.

Yeah I agree. I think Ainge made up his mind on Fultz and pulled the trigger early just in case something did come up where he could land another key piece rather than settling for this haul on draft night.

I don't think he wanted to trade #1 straight up for anyone, so breaking it into #3 and LAL/SAC pick allows him to still make calls on big deals using #3, but now with some of the value from #1 broken out that he can hold onto.

The only thing that really has me worried is that they haven't worked out Jackson, which makes me wonder whether they even know who they want at #3. How can they get this far and not have worked out the guy who was presumed to be the 3rd player of a 3 man tier at the top of the draft? Makes me think Danny really did think he was going to work out another deal for a star, but it just never happened (or hasn't yet).

Today's rumor is that teams are trying to trade up for 3 because they love Josh Jackson. If true that just proves what a great trade 1 for 3 was. We grabbed a likely lottery pick in an awesome big man draft to get a pick that everybody wants - because they too know Josh is the most attractive player in this draft. The top 5 picks in this draft profect to be #2 and #3 guys on a team. There is nobody who looks like a #1 guy to me.

Ainge probably started the rumor.

The gap is enormous, huge, i really don't know how else to explain my position. Who we want to take doesn't really matter in the end. They could have Frank Ntilikina as their highest rated guy on their board, im STILL asking for pick 3 and Simmons for my pick, take it or leave it.

Nailed it.

Feel better? I would've held out for more or taken Fultz. Hope I'm wrong and the Celtics are right.

I'm with you.

I don't love the trade. I don't mind the idea, but I too woulda wanted more. If we're going close to that deal, I woulda held out for both of those picks. Take it or leave it. I think Fultz is going to be very good. Maybe now superstar top 5-7 player, but an all star type for sure. He's not Danny's type of dude though.

I don't think they give us Simmons lol. Might as well trade down & take Monk at that point, but your point stands. We shoulda got more for the #1. Give us the Lakers pick (say top 1 proctected) & the kings pick outright. You need Fultz, we coulda flipped that for anyone sans 5-7 ppl.

Just heard on ESPN radio that the current offer the Knicks have proposed for Porzingis is the #3 pick, BRK18 pick, Jaylen Brown and Jae Crowder.

Maybe if the Celtics still had the number one overall pick, Porzingis would already be a Celtic

OR
maybe the extra assets they got will be what puts the deal over the top

Ian Begley reporting that Celtics offering #3, a player and another lottery pick they could acquire tonight. There have been other rumors we are after Minnesota #7. Also that Celtics are not trading down from 3.

I think that means we are getting a second pick tonight whether it goes to NY or not. I am guessing Bradley or Smart to Minnesota for #7 assuming Crowder was player going to NY.

Hey I've been on vacation in Europe for two weeks with little time or internet. Has there been any updates on IT4 and his surgery/health? I thought we were hearing it could be serious/career altering, but maybe I misheard. I'm only asking with regards to how that affects any player we draft or trade for.

We should make a run at PG if the Lakers low-ball them, we can best the offer. Crowder and Clippers pick or something is better than getting bullied into Randle + 27/28 for the Pacers and is worth the gamble for us to try to resign him. Pacers need LA to ante up or they can ship him elsewhere.

Doubt it. Phil wants to steal everything from Danny to save his career. Thinks KP is AD

Curmudgeon wrote:Olynyk is gone. And I do expect a deal today because Ainge needs to shed another $2M with the cap going down to $99M. At present he's about $4M short of being able to offer Hayward or another free agent the max, even after renouncing Olynyk.

I expect a player to be shipped to an under-the-cap team for a future pick or a player with a much lower salary. The obvious candidates are smart, Bradley or Crowder.

Houston is shopping Patrick Beverly for the same reason.

That's really discomfiting if today is the last day Avery Bradley is a Celtic

I don't post a lot during the offseason because I HATE this time of year!!! I also hate the time period before the trade deadline. I love our players and I don't like to see people just toss them under the bus for any and every player. I do like the time directly after the draft/trade deadline after we pick or make big trades because I like to learn what I can about our new players. I like reading people's take on the new guys and getting any new info I can on them.

I don't believe any of our players should be untouchable but I do have a short list of guys I wish were the last resort in trades. I just don't like having to say goodbye to players I have invested a lot of love and time into. It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterdayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!

I want to ask something I forgot to ask a few days ago. Does anyone else think that maybe we haven't heard anything about IT4 because of fear it could hurt our FA chances? Like, what if he can't play for a while into next season, what FA wants to play without one of our best players, why would they think we could get too far without him. Then when he does get healthy, how long before he is his old self again, if ever? I fear that he may have a long rehab ahead of him and they are biding time so that we can add more FA talent. Once the player is on board is when we will start hearing about IT4 (probably surgery).

Sorry if this has been said before.
