Re: Pi-Rats @ The Crew
Brinson has started only have the available games since being called up. I was excited to see him but not like this. Its wasting service time to have him up and not playing. Its stupid. Should have just called up Reed instead if they wanted someone to ride the pine.

And Hader can't seem to get into a game unless it's a blowout. Counsell is awful.

Bench Santana next game for that bush league stuff. Cost the team a run, maybe more, just because he didn't run it out. If you're not positive, keep going. You don't lose anything. If you want to see Brinson, there's your opening.

I like Santana, but he is not one to give anywhere near max effort in many areas of his game(cough cough....lazy)

Reviewing every single questionable call is really bad for the game imo

We're insane if we're not shopping Knebel everywhere right now.

Sogard is absolutely out of his mind right now. He just keeps hitting.

The best thing is that you can't lose when you say this. I generally agree that we should sell high but it's not going to happen unless we suddenly lose like 10 in a row and after that it still probably won't. But when we are sitting at a 40-50 record in a year or two and Knebel is only having an OK season, you'll have told us that we should have traded him.

Re: Pi-Rats @ The Crew
Or it's because you realize the volatility of relievers and it's just as likely he posts a 4 ERA next year than a 1 ERA and that's he very likely not going to strike out 16 per 9 innings next year or strand 97% of the runners that reach base.
This is like the Guerra argument last year, who despite having a 3.11 ERA is pitching like complete **** to the point where there's not a chance we could get as much for him now as we could have in the offseason.

I'm sure Stearns will look and see where the team is cone a month from now both in the standings and how they are playing.
Since he took over as GM, i'm hard pressed to think of a more active GM on the trade market than Stearns has been, so clearly he's willing to actually pull the trigger on deals.
Come late July i expect him to assess the team and just as importantly, see what kind of offers he gets for any of his players. Knebel has years of team control left, so any team calling would have to be offering a lot or else the phone call would be very brief. Staerns has all of the leverage given Knebel wouldn't be a rental and the team isn't bad.

I get all of that and agree with you...but:
1. Other GMs know these facts and the offers are probably valued as such.
2. This is a professional sports team that isn't going to trade 2 good players with 4-5 years of control if in semi-contention. I'm not even sure the prime Rays or A's do it.
3. There actually could be a downside to it. In a vacuum I'd make the trade but it's completely possible that Knebel and Guerra hold value the entire time and/or we trade for busts.

Re: Pi-Rats @ The Crew
Regarding the Santana gaffe: It was an odd play, and one that you'd like to give the player the benefit of the doubt on, if said player had a history of busting his *ss on plays. Santana, however, does not routinely bust his *ass on plays. He quite often "dogs" it when running out grounders, and there've been a couple times this year when a double play could've been prevented had he only hustled down the line - one of those came today, IMO. BA and Rock love to talk about his "island chill" or whatever, but to me, all I see is laziness. I do like Santana, and this is just a critique, so I hope he uses this as a learning experience.
On a side note - the double walls of Miller Park have come into play so many times throughout the years, I wonder why they have never tried to remedy this situation. It probably wouldn't take much - nets are the first thing that come to mind, but I'm sure there are other possible solutions as well.
On another side note - I was at the game, and it's amazing how many Brewers fans are completely oblivious of the rules. Many fans around me simply could not understand why it wasn't still ruled a HR, even after replay clearly showed what happened. Even after I tried explaining the situation, a couple guys next to me continued to b*tch and boo, convinced that because the ball hit the yellow line, it should be an automatic HR, regardless of which way it bounced.
