I don't hate the pick but definitely share some of your concerns....not sure if him and RC will mesh well.
But we had to make that pick and I'll be cautiously optimistic.

While I hope we don't and we start Smith, and RC saying he is ready to play big minutes right now.. I wouldn't be shocked to see us sign an older PG to start and help develop Smith.

RC says he's probably a starter right now, whether that's @ the one or the two, we'll find out. Somebody (I can't find it now) reported they'd still like to get Holiday and then start those two together.

Hope they manage him well during it, but yeah, got something to really watch now, hasn't been that way in awhile

Wow. Can't believe we landed him. Couldn't be happier. Super exciting player to root for. Big upside. The downside. Him and Carlisles relationship IF dsj doesn't focus on D. I watched a ton of NCSt this year. His awareness on the defensive end was poor. He needs to step up his defensive intensity 10 fold or he's going to drive Carlisle crazy. He tended to force things more than any PG I've ever seen over the course of a season. Maybe that's because his teammates and coach sucked. Maybe because that's what he does. Hopefully the coaching staff can regulate him. Didn't mean to post negatives as he was the guy I wanted most, by far, but there are some concerns. Not enough to upset me though......Mavs just landed the best player that could've been available to us

Color me shocked that he was somehow still there at 9, but I still would have loved to have seen us trade Wes for Turner and 15 and end up with Giles as well. All in all, I can't complain too much, since Dennis Smith was who I wanted more than any other logical #9 prospect. He's going to be a special talent
