Welcome to the Pacers TJ Leaf!

Post#1 » by boomershadow » Fri Jun 23, 2017 1:32 am

Welcome TJ. UCLA has done good things for the Pacers before. Let's hope some of that luck rubs off on your tenure here. With us potentially letting go of Allen, I'm guessing we were planning ahead on getting a power forward.

What a joke. I understand Paul George bad decision after bad decision. John Collins is so superior to this guy.

I would have probably preferred to take the gamble on Giles, but I'm alright with this pick. Seems like he may fit well next to Turner.

Terrible pick why not just draft Tyler Hansbrough again! OH Wait we just did! IDIOTS!! John Collins and Jarrett Allen are both better! This is our gift to the Hawks, I wonder if they'll call and thank that moron KP.

I cant see how any serious person can say Leaf was a good pick. Thad Young has a year or two left on his contract, will Leaf be a good young replacement at the starting PF position, no. If George stays is Leaf going to contribute right away off the bench this year, no. What was the point then?

I will say this. The pick makes a lot of sense if we are actually serious about playing pace and space basketball. We said that for a few years now, but filled up the roster with old school big men and non-shooting combo guards. With the ability to hit the 3 point shot so important in today's NBA and seemingly more and more important every year that goes by, having a young 4 with legit range could be a great asset.

Let's hope Dan Burke can work some magic on him.

Even George didn't contribute all that much as a rookie although by the playoffs his defense was showing. If leaf can play 12 minutes a game behind Thad, he'll help.

Now a wing.

who does he remind you guys off as a comparison?
nbadraft.net compares to Nick Collison although Leaf seems like a much better shooter but is less tough

Tear it down! Trade Thad Young, Trade that lying idiot, tell Jeff Teague sorry but unless you're coming back for $9 million find another team. Try to give Jefferson away, start a D-League team and get drunk for the next 3 yrs.

There is absolutely no reason to keep Thad Young and pay him $15 million trade him for what ever you can get they're gonna lose 65 games at least. They'll make the 2016-17 Nets look good.

I am going to buck the trend on the thoughts here. I really like Leaf's game. Watched him a lot at UCLA. He is more of a project and will take time, but unfortunately we have that. I understand those that liked Collins, I did not see him as much as Leak.

You can not like the pick. I get that. But, Leaf and Tyler are completely different players. Completely different games. The only thing they have in common is they are both white PF.

Leaf's numbers come from them having such a high paced and potent offense at UCLA.

Turner only averaged 10.1/game in college. Numebers are irrelevant. It is a matter if you like his game or not.

I understand that this is a time of a lot of uncertainty and disappointment for the team and that frustrations are going to run high, but I think it's a bit hyperbolic to say we're going to be that bad. We still have a lot more going for us than the Nets did this year, and we have more to hope for for the future than they do.

Let's try to keep this discussion on TJ Leaf. Most picks take a few years to really tell how they're going to pan out anyways, and I find the predictions of doom and gloom to be a bit premature.
