This. Always gotta find the silver lining. Hey, Pax traded picks 16 and 30 for 5, 7 and 13. Plus no one's beating GSW

I know they'll be bad but I'm hoping they will run an up tempo style that takes advantage of their new found athleticism.

I see some serious talent in Dunn. Hopefully he bounces back this year. Bulls should give him free reign so we can find out what we have in him.

Thibs played him over 1000 minutes.

And he was apocalyptically bad.

Why even follow a team with this mentality?

Because the practical application of such a thought is to tank every year till you get a MJ or LeBron. That's the level of talent that wins titles in the NBA. Or Durant+Steph+Dray type superteam.

The Bulls right now have NO shot to win a title, are much farther away than we were a few hours ago. And no visible path to even imagine how a title would happen for at least 3 or 4 years and that is if everything went amazing with player growth and great drafting going forward.

So you should only follow a team that has a shot at the title? The only team with fans should be GS and Cleveland?

I'm not even sure why people think that Minny has no shot at a title. Butler is a borderline franchise player, Thibs is a GREAT coach, and KAT and Wiggins have insane potential. They also have really good quality role players in Rubio and Dieng. I wouldn't be surprised if they add someone like Taj Gibson.

That team has so much going for them. I would easily trade places with them, and think they have one of the brightest futures in the league.

That's on GarPax for not getting a better offer. There is no way a good GM doesn't get a better offer. Or maybe GarPax is so daft at evaluating talent that they thought this was a great offer. Either way, they got roasted on this trade.

People saying that they had to trade Jimmy now - no they didn't. He could have gotten similar if not better value at the deadline

I'm betting that LaVine was the sticking point in the talks. David Kaplan was reporting shortly before the trade was agreed that he Wolves were offering Dunn and Rubio.

Figure LaVine is back by Jan. If he plays well he'll get a good payday. I don't mind paying a 22y/o big money as long as he healthy and next year we will see. If he struggles we will get him on a bargain.

If Lavine is back and playing well, he's going to get maxed. I don't want to max out Lavine. Lavine at his best won't lead us anywhere.

Probably why a smart GM traded him and his bust for our all star.

Lavine is not meant to be our leader. If he is the 3rd option putting 20ppg that would be great. We need lots of high level players. So what if he plays well enough to get a big contract? Bulls are going to have a TON of money to spend next summer and no stars are coming here so give to young guy. It won't hurt our future. By time we are ready to seriously contend again his contract will up or we can trade him.

Yeah, I mean best case scenario is:

Markannen is a star.
Dunn is a star.
LaVine is healthy and a star.

If all three of those things happen it might seem like a great return but it'll always be a bad trade since we should've gotten more/given up less.

It sounded like that is what you were saying.

Anyway, Bulls didn't have a realistic shot at a title with Jimmy, and they still don't without him.

The misnomer is people thinking rebuilding automatically means you've created a shot at a title.

The shot doesn't actually happen unless kids develop into amazing talents, until they do, you are much much farther away.

I actually liked Dunn last year in the draft. He didn't have a good rookie season, but I won't give up on him just yet. I still see a talented prospect. Wade will really help him a lot, and I see similar games between the two.

As for LaVine, I wanted the Bulls to draft him instead of Doug back in 2014. I'm hoping he recovers from the ACL injury. If he comes back the same, the deal wouldn't be so bad. It's the #thereturn2.

We gotta be really bad. Decline Rondo, buyout Wade, trade Lopez, let Niko walk and tank tank tank. Michael Porter Jr. is worth going 9-72 for and that's what it's going to take.

we wont have to do to much, we will be bad regardless which should be the plan. My hope is we sign some respected vets to help the maturation process for the young players. I assume wade will be bought out.

We have Brooklyn, Orlando, Pacers(once they trade PG), Detroit & Philly to compete with, so we have to tank hard in order to be worse than them...

After sitting back a bit, still hate this trade. Would of liked it a bit more if we kept #16, shoot even think we should of received a future 1st. A few tidbits:

- Lauri Markkanen has potential. Haven't seen him play, just watched highlights. No way in hell Miro & him can play side by side.
- Loved Kris Dunn last year. Had to judge his rookie year, we all know Thibs hates rookies.
- Hopefully we suck enough that Hoiberg gets canned.. Gar too.
-2020 plan in full effect. Tank until then, get AD to return home. #trusttheprocess
