That wouldn't surprise me but this is also Ainge we are talking about. No team/GM in the league is as obsessed as he is about always appearing to have outsmarted and beaten the league. How many times do we have to hear about Boston being so close to pulling a trade off but failing because the other team pulled out [re: didn't want their garbage offer].

Ainge and Stevens and assistant coach Zarren flew out to Sacramento to work him out and he canceled on them so they had to get back in a flight and head to Boston .

Glad the BS from the pre-draft discussion is over. All that freaking out, for what...

As I always hoped, best player in the draft, and they always had him #1. Just to top it all off, Kuzma is a highway robbery at 27. Everyone should check him out and will see soon

2017 Lakers Draft Pick Discussion

i love that Hart pick. i hope he turns out to be like a George Hill or Aaron Afflalo kind of a guy. plus he's a senior. so he might be able to contribute sooner rather than later. cant wait to see him on the court.

not sure about the others. but Kuzma seems okay.

It still kills me that we don't see a Lonzo/D'Angelo backcourt.

Semi went to the Celtics??? I don't like that. I would've picked him.

Lonzo Ball nuff said. He now has the keys to the kingdom let's see if he can live up to the hype his dad has created.

Kuzma. Don't know about him but I've heard good things.

Hart. Great great pick. Senior players are underrated but I'm sure he can step in right away and contribute. Hopefully he can have a similar impact to Malcolm Brogdan last year.

Bryant. Should be good in the G league.

Overall I agree this draft is an A+ including the Russell/Mozgov trade. Magic and Pelinka are already showing what a real front office looks like. Getting more youth is brilliant since it allows us to fill our bench low cost supporting players while maintaing cap flexibility, and retaining assets for a trade. Next up we need to get rid of Deng and Clarkson

Think we nailed 3/4 picks, still not sold on Kuzma at 27 (if we got him 42 instead i'd be a lot happier with it).

I still don't feel we should get comfortable with anyone but Lonzo and maybe Hart, i think the rest could be moved in this impending move to Indiana (it will have to happen at some stage, its just a game of chicken i think, or if Boston decide to go for it).

Rob Pelinka talks about each draft picks: Lonzo, Kuzma, Hart and Bryant. You can hear about the type of players HC Walton wanted and how these picks fit into that mold and what the FO is trying to build in the first third/half of the video.

I love what Magic and Rob did in this draft. Feels good to know we finally have a competent front office that does not rank at the bottom of the league year in and year out like it did with Mitch and Jim. Change was good, change was needed.

Quick look at the guys taken later -

We didn't get any of the guys I was hot for but I'm pleased anyway. Lonzo, and a couple of long, fast guys at the 2 and 4, and a project center. Now let's just not sell the farm for PG. I still cringe at what the Knicks gave away for Melo in their superstar lust, and how little it got them.

Just wanted to congratulate you guys on an amazing draft. Will be rooting for the Lakers this coming season. Hoping for neither the Sixers nor the Celtics getting a good pick.
