Monk is the only thing that matters. I didn't expect to see Monk here. I'm happy. Cho gets an A even though he pissed away the #31 pick that we stole from Atlanta.

A grade. The Monk trade alone was a A+ but how we handled the 2nd round pick with Semi and Rabb available took away the +. I won't complain because we won big tonight. I never expect much from a 2nd rounder so I won't complain much.

Yup, A+ just because we got Monk. Steal of the draft and I think it's rare you can say that without looking in the rear view mirror. I like Bacon, but preferred Jackson as did many others. Doesn't matter because Monk makes the draft, and having Christian, Monk, Corn, and Bacon on Carolina teams makes it that much more legit.

This was a deep draft and clearly there was first round talent (some would argue lottery) there at 31. Jackson, Semi, Rabb, Bell (just to name a few) were all available to you. Instead you walked away with extra cash for fun money and Bacon (I feel his BBIQ is on par with Hairston's and thus won't be in the league long). I feel the guy they targeted was snatched at the end of the first and they didn't have a plan so figured they'd pick up some cash in the process. At least it wasn't an outright sell of the pick.

For those saying you don't expect much from a second rounder, you misunderstand the value 31 held this year - a first round talent who could have a VERY small cap hit for 2-3 years. Again, blowing another potential asset that could be used in future trades.

The key word in your post is feel. Our posts are our opinions. To the best of my knowledge none of us were at any of these work outs or have met any of these players. We are all arm chair quarterbacking here. The Hornets picked who they wanted to pick. It's their team. We are only fans. Maybe Dewayne does have a low bbiq, but at least he didn't get caught with a gun trying to buy POTpourri.

I am pretty sure that most of us understand how great it would be to get a first round talent on a second round contract that only has to be guaranteed at the discretion of the team. Regardless the draft is always a crap shoot. Number one picks sometimes bust, so there is no reason to just assume that the Hornets made some cataclysmic mistake. Maybe we did. Maybe we didn't. The point is that in the scheme of the National Basketball Association's draft history any milk we may have spilled was probably only a couple drops, so I choose not to cry over them.

I'm not as sold on Monk as some, but I'm hopeful that he's going to be exactly what the team needs. I would have given an A- for Monk alone. Trading 31 and then drafting Bacon. Ugh. Hate it.

I thought you guys did a terrific job in this draft. You are built so much like the Orlando team that went to the Finals in 2009. While Dwight isn't the player he once was, I think he will benefit greatly from having a lot of space to operate. Also, Malik Monk was an absolute steal.

I really like the Monk pick, but he's a gift. I only give our FO minimal credit for not f'ing it up.

Have never liked our irrational love of selling seconds. No Frank Jackson fan here, but the options on the board at 31 came with a lot less question marks than those at 40. Wasted opportunity.

(EDIT: if this is more about our draft in a vacuum rather than a consideration of our overall draft efforts, I'd ratchet it up to a B+). Monk will be a player.

Malik Monk is far from perfect. He desperately needs to add more strength to his 6'3" frame and can fall into the habits of an inefficient gunner, taking plenty of bad shots and trying to shoot himself out of a cold spell.

But while at Kentucky, he showed enough to prove he has as much scoring upside as anyone in this draft class. It's by no means ridiculous to think Monk could develop into a combo guard capable of producing an efficient 25 points on any given night, thanks to a sterling blend of athleticism, handles and touch from the outside. He has the dribbling skills and off-the-bounce ability to score as a point guard, and his explosion won't hurt when he's filling an off-ball role.

Doesn't this sound like something the Charlotte Hornets could use? They were far too reliant on Kemba Walker during the 2016-17 campaign, and having a young go-to scorer to pair with him makes perfect sense. He'll stay fresher throughout the season, and they might avoid a midseason downward spiral while chasing a playoff berth.

Monk will force the Hornets to live with some ugly stretches, but it's nothing they weren't already used to. And when he explodes—which he will—it'll be more than worth the short-term suffering.

Grade: B+

Dwayne Bacon can fry a defense in multiple ways, but he might have to revamp his jumper in order to maximize his success in the NBA. His low release worked in the ACC, but he's about to face bigger, faster and more athletic defenders.

If his shot sticks, his physicality could make him an intriguing option for the Charlotte Hornets' second unit. He won't work his way into the starting five anytime soon, but every team can use an athletic slasher off the bench, especially when that player is also capable of knocking down treys.
