Tyler Ulis was 1 on our board too.

Kobi Simmons - not sure why he went pro but it was smart of a guy like Rawle Alkins to stay

As for the Suns - I think it was a good first round but I think McD missed on Josh Bell.

As for Ryan saying Josh was the best player in the draft - I think he was the BEST player for the Suns in the draft - probably top 3 overall - so not reaching too much

If that's honest he has to play 30 minutes from the start.

Why? The best player in this draft could still not be better than the players already on the team.

I'd rather change something up from a 24 win team.

I'm sure he'll begin off the bench, but, as long as we do trade Dudley, I see no way he doesn't get significant minutes.

It's funny. We all know what we're getting (for the most part) with Jackson. I'm more interested in Reed and how he'll fit.

I think Peters and Reed are going to spend a lot of driving the I-17 to Prescott on two way contracts - as they should. Playing time for both will be critical. And I would rather Peters spend two years bouncing back and forth playing than just waive him. Pretty cheap contract to keep on roster

Jackson may not start but he will play a lot. The team needs his defense.

Anyone know where I can watch McDonough's post draft presser?
I can't find it on the Suns site which is really odd.

Just reading about Josh Reed - I think Ryan McD might have missed it on this one. Reed and Jackson as a 1 2 young defensive punch - add in Sauce. You have three guys brining it hard with the D and Boards.

Josh squared would have been like Rodman/Salley with those Bad Boy Piston teams - not much offense but a lot of energy, hustle , defense, rebounds.

Because they knew they could get him with the second pick and thought most had Bender rated higher. If they tried to go Chriss Bender, it would not have happened.

I'm sorry to sound uninformed, but who is Josh Reed?

damn - where did Josh Reed come from - he was a football player from LSU and the Bills

Jordan Bell - my bad totally. I think the Suns missed on Jordan Bell. It would have been the J& J show

The more I read about Reed, the more I like the pick.

In the second round you can always swing for the fences on higher upside guys, but I don't mind taking a safer lower-upside dude to pair with our young core.

We do have a need for a backup guard that has size, can play defense and hit open shots. In this case I like that he's older, he's been through some battles, the idea is probably to develop him into a guy that can play ~10 MPG spelling Booker/Bledsoe, but provide really good defense and some shooting.

If we becomes a successful role player, this pick will be very good. I like it.

exactly, i like the pick now too
especially considering he worked out 18 times before draft, it is hard to get him at #54.

Cool, I was searching for him, and only came up with someone from the 90s.

So far I think McD has done a decent job with drafting, so I can only hope he made a good choice with Reed. Time will tell.

Yeah he wasn't going to be there at #54. 3-and-D and positional versatility are the current NBA buzz words, and he fits that to a T with his proven outside shooting, proven defensive impact, and very good frame. How good he gets from here really depends on how hard he wants to work, but I don't see why there's no upside in a fairly athletic 6'6", 7' wingspan 2 guard with 40% career 3-point shooter just because he just turned 22.

After drafting Jackson, I felt as if McD's rebuild was finally complete. At this point, everything depends on the players. If these guys meet their potential, we'll contend.

I feel relieved, for now. No major holes. A complete core. I am confident we will win more ball games than last year. Go Suns!
