So I wonder now if the reason we signed Elijah Milsap last season is because we knew we wanted to go after Paul Milsap this off-season?

We had Elijah on our SL roster the year before though, didn't we?

I think that is whewre the idea of trading Bledsoe for a pick in the lottery and possibly getting a guy like Dennis Smith Jr was a thought

Now, not so sure you trade Bledsoe - see what the market takes

This is the summer of what to do with Brandon Knight. That question needs to be answered

Would you guys rather go after Blake or Millsap if you had to choose?

This would allow us to let Len walk

I actually would do this trade . Great idea. I read that yesterday they were exploring trading JVal so maybe Knight and a heavily protected future first rounder - like the first non lottery pick or 2020 1st - or something down the road - I think makes a good trade

Great idea. Plus, could let Len walk. Chandler either stays or goes - doesn't matter. But you also can sign Sauce

I like it - a lot Plus he is young enough and fits the "timeline"

Blake 100%

Blake over Millsap but how about this one.... I know he turned his back on the Suns but Mark STein reported he wouldn't opt out for the Suns next year would buy the team time: Aldridge for Dudley/Barbosa. The Spurs clear a bunch of cap space. Granted, the Suns take on a bit of cap space. But you know Aldridge is two years 40m. Blake won't be two years 40m. Millsap wont be 2 years 40. And in two years, you will need the cap space for all these young guys: Booker, Warren, even Bender, Chriss will be three years away. And I don't want an injury prone Griffin with a 4 year deal (not that he is coming here) or a 35 year old Millsap with two years to go on his deal blocking young guys.

Dudley is a smart player - Spurs would find a way to make it work with him. I actually think for the Suns - LMA becomes a bridge player for two years - you are paying Dudley anyway; for the SPurs, they clear a bunch of cap space to go get somebody like CP3. I know its my opinion but it makes sense for both teams.

So, Knight for JVal as mentioned above; let Len walk. Maybe move Chandler and now this trade.

i dont think it is realistic to trade away knight now

if it is the deal involve jv, I want bledsoe+tyson<>jv+joseph

joseph can be the backup to support ulis.
of course, with jv we wont resign alex.

At this point, I think Corey Joseph is better than Knight and Ulis and I think he actually will start for the Raptors with Lowry leaving. Knight though would give them a solid contributor off the bench or bring points they might need

I like Len. He can be a Bogut type. He isn't trash and he is positive. I think he has a little more value than what some are giving him credit for. He isn't the guy we'd thought he be, however he is better than Sauce and can bang. Dude is still young. If the money is right, which it should be in today's market on C's, retain him. We don't need so many moving parts, at some point we need consistency and cohesion. You have to love the guys you play with too, that shows up on the court as well. Len is mean too.

The point is, hard to sell knight to them for jv directly without adding a 1st rounder which i absolutely don't want it.
And if we add jv, it is better to move tyson at the same time since we can resign alan likely as a fair price so that our c rotation will be jv and alanw(maybe bender also)

last season, he shows no fire a little bit. I also dont want to give up on him
But at the same time, I want bender to play some 5 and retain alanw, so maybe it is time for him to go if the price is>10M a year

Be interesting if Len and Williams get offers or if we sort it out ourselves.

Big Sauce:
15.1 MPG 7.4 points 2.0 offensive rebounds 4.2 defensive rebounds 0.6 steals 0.7 blocks 2.7 fouls
PER36 17.6 points 4.8 offensive rebounds 10.1 defensive rebounds 1.4 steals 1.6 blocks 6.4 fouls
In games with 30+ minutes (3 games): 14.0 points 13.7 rebounds 2.0 steals 1.3 blocks 4.3 fouls

Alex Len:
20.3 MPG 8.0 points 2.0 offensive rebounds 4.6 defensive rebounds 0.5 steals 1.3 blocks 3.1 fouls
PER36 14.1 points 3.6 offensive rebounds 8.2 defensive rebounds 0.9 steals 2.3 blocks 5.6 fouls
In games with 30+ minutes (6 games): 12.3 points 11.3 rebounds 0.7 steals 2.7 blocks 3.3 fouls

I say lock up Big Sauce real quick (shouldn't be hard given he's a hometown kid), and let Len go.

That's 100% where I'm at, I'm letting Len go, even if its only ~12millionish; I frankly just don't think he's very good.

Not that Sauce is the answer, but I think he's the guy between the two I TRUST more to keep working within the system, improve slightly and bust his ass every night.

I just realized that next season, I will officially no longer be pulling for the tank. I want to see these guys win going forward.
It's amazing what a difference it would have been had we traded the pick for Aldridge or Love. I go from potentially cancelling my NBA package to being super excited for the future. Good times

If we didn't have Knight on the books we could afford to experiment more with Len. I agree that he still has alot of upside but all I'm asking for at this point is that he learns how to catch the friggin ball and I would be happy to extend him at a reasonable price.

Assuming we keep Barbosa, Dudley, Milsap, and let Len walk, we still have a pretty crowded depth chart:

Bledsoe/Ulis
Booker/Knight/Barbosa/Reed
Warren/Jackson/DJJ/Milsap
Chriss/Bender/Dudley/Peters
Chandler/Williams

Some notes:

-I think Watson will give Knight every opportunity to bounce back, so that's why I have him ahead of LB in the depth chart. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't work out and LB becomes our primary backup 2 again

-I don't think Warren is gonna give up his starting spot as easily as some think, so I have him pencilled in as the starter for now. I do think that Jackson eventually supplants him as the season goes on, and I think he's a much better fit next to Booker on the wing.

-Not sure how much time there's gonna be for Dudley this year. Certainly hope Bender gets more minutes than he does at PF, and there's very little time at SF now that we have Jackson

-I imagine Reed, Peters, DJJ, and Millsap will be spending a lot of time in the D-League

This draft set them up for a very quiet offseason. They will do something at center but chances are that will just be retaining one or both of len and Williams. With the cap projections going down its really hard to see where len could get a deal over the mid level exemption and at that price I don't mind bringing him back. I'm sure they will explore knight trades but its fairly unlikely anyone bites on his contract.

I've been on the trade Bledsoe bandwagon since last deadline but with the way the draft played out I'm happy they didn't do anything with him yesterday. I do wonder if that Denver deal for Mudiay and 13 was the contingent plan if Jackson wasn't there at 4 and they then went with Fox. If they did that then the Denver deal would have made sense and they could have grabbed OG or a safer wing like Justin Jackson at 13. But with Jackson locked up at 4 and since none of the guys like Frank, Smith, or Collins fell to 13 I'm happy they didn't pull the trigger. IMO after Monk went at 11 the talent level really fell off in this draft.

With the young guys they are going to be rolling out there it's good to have a competent PG running the show. Now that's not to say they shouldn't be opportunistic if a Bledsoe deal they can't pass up arises but as of now they might as well roll with him. Heck if he stays healthy they can still get a mid first for him next summer if they want.
