Phoenex GM Ryan McDonough gets revenge on Danny Ainge for the Isaiah trade, through the draft

Josh Jackson cancelled workout while Celtics were flying cross-country to him, and lied about it during the ESPN draft night

Stepping off the plane at Sacramento International Airport, Danny Ainge and his delegation turned on their phones to some infuriating news.

With Celtics Assistant GM Mike Zarren and head coach Brad Stevens on board, Ainge and the Celtics’ top brass had been informed by Josh Jackson’s camp that the workout they were flying coast to coast for had been abruptly cancelled.

ESPN: Suns Gm Ryan McDonough "we followed rules in Josh Jackson persuit"

"You guys know my connection to the Boston Celtics and the respect I have for Danny Ainge, but you guys also know how competitive I am and it is a competition," Suns general manager Ryan McDonough said Friday without elaborating much more. "The process is what it is and we played by the rules, I guess. I'm just thrilled Josh Jackson is sitting next to me and is a member of the Phoenix Suns."

He admits he had something to do with why Jackson blew off Danny Ainge's workouts. Imagine flying for 7 hours only to have someone cancel on you last second. McDonough felt the Isaiah trade was too one sided, and forced Jackson to cancel.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not mad, I think its hilarious.

Explain revenge.

We still have Thomas.

And we have Tatum and they are stuck with the guy who can't shoot

If Ainge did it Celtics fans would be praising him, nothing says the Celtics couldn't draft him anyway.

They flew cross country for 7 hours to a pre-arranged work out, only to be told when they landed, that Josh Jackson isn't available for a work out. An Danny should have still considered drafting him? lol

Isaiah turned into an all-star, it was a very 1 sided trade. Ryan got ripped off in the trade, and wanted to **** Ainge over, because he "is very competitive".

All they probably did was make him a draft guarantee.

If they really wanted Jackson they would have drafted him. Nothing to see here

Complete non story, just a couple of Celtics fans acting salty because you didn't draft Jackson.
If Ainge really wanted Jackson he would of taken him. End of story.

That is not true. Celtics dont draft players that they don't work out first. The work out was scheduled and cancelled last second by Jackson, after a 7 hour flight by Ainge team.

Jackson got a draft promise from a team that is gonna play him big mins in his rookie year.

He wouldn't play huge amount looking at celtics situation. I don't see anything wrong with what happened.

Players are locked in franchise for 8-9 years can't get blind sided trade anytime. No one feels bad for them. Having the ability to choose who you want to go too is perfectly fine and acceptable.

It's a business.

Revenge? Yeah, don't see that.

All they did was tell Josh's camp to cancel, then Ainge wouldn't draft him. The only foul play being maybe that he went to Jackson and told him that he wouldn't get any run in Boston, and he would develop better in Phx.

If Ainge were clever, he would have drafted Jackson then held McDonough to ransom if he wanted him.

What goes around comes around friend.

Ainge is no angel. He screwed the Lakers in the Marcus Banks trade.

Teams are always screwing each other over.

Took the cheaper flight with the stopover in Vladivostok.

I look stupid because I made a bad trade with you
Now I play a trick on you to make you look stupid, because I'm an ****

I'm not sure this is 'revenge', looks more like McDonut is bad at trades and an ass (if they know and like each other it's pretty funny, though)
