yeah man Phil came in here and reversed 15 years of excellent work by this organization. What is he thinking keeping all our picks and drafting exciting young players like KP, Frank and Willy. I miss the days where we were trading unprotected 1st for Tmac and Bargs and our GM was going to court for a sexual harassment case. That's nothing compared to sending stupid tweets. Can't wait to fire him and get back to the good old days.
That does not erase the embarrassment he's caused with his unnecessary drama. If he did his job quietly and acted like a professional, nobody would be killing him right now, even with his losing record.
I agree theres no debate on that. But media and fans alike are acting he's set back the franchise years and has been the worst president we have ever had when that's further from the truth. Do I wish we had someone like Buford, Presti or even Sean Marks honestly... yeah. But we're the Knicks and the idea we will get someone completely component to run the Knicks after Phil is gone is naive as hell. We should all appreciate the fact that he's looked out for the future of the Knicks, making it a top priority to protect our future assetts. Especially considering his role with the franchise will likely end in a couple years. Yes it seems obvious, but like we've done the complete opposite for over a decade before he came here.
I swear, some always seeing the grass as greener on the other side. If you were to analyze any GM the way we do around here, you can almost always find poor trades/signings/drafts etc... Everyone wants an executive from Popovichs family tree. Its the same with Belicheck... Its like people expect there genius dust will be transfer to there disciples... When do we see a disciple out perform his mentor?
Sam Presti
Reputation largely due to his team sucking and having top draft choices From 2007-2010 they had 4 lotto picks.(Durant 2nd pick, Westbrook 4th pick, Harden 3rd, Cole Aldrich 10th).
Traded Harden for Kevin Martin/Lamb/1st rd
Traded draft rights to Eric Bledsoe for Cole Aldrich
Traded Rashard Lewis for 2nd round pick while in his prime.
Traded Ray Allen for Delonte West/Jeff Green
Traded Jeff Green for Nate Robinson
R.C. Buford
Buford was largely assistant gm/president for most of the Spurs run. Its hard to say who is more responsible... Pop or Buford. When Buford took over as GM in 2002, the team already had Tim Duncan, David Robinson, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, Stephen Jackson and Bruce Bowen.
RC did draft Kawhi. In his defense every year they draft towards the bottom.
What the spurs don't usually do is make poor signings or trades. Except:
traded Goran Dragic for a 2nd rounder.
Buford also was arrested for DWI in 2011 with San Antonio media calling for his job. But not many were aware because there's so little media in San Antonio.
With that said, I'd take him over Phil but we all know there is no chance he's coming.
Sean Marks
Way to early to tell. The Nets had the worst record in the league. Not saying its his fault but Im not sure how to you can accurately evaluate the guy.
