If we add stars, we wont have the money to pay Smart. Not even close. With all his flaws he'll still get a decent amount of money in FA I suspect.

He's as good as Bradley and will probably be better than IT in two years. Wouldn't be surprised if he's our PG in 2020.

Man I hopped over to a Jazz fan website for the first time, and I was surprised to see how many were negative about retaining Hayward. Usually the current fan bases are much more sure/positive, but it's pretty sad over there..

Hmmm...as for hoping to have IT back by the start of the season, for now I call "bull$#!t". I'll believe it when I see it.

if this alleged super team deal does go through which of these guys would you want most for the MLE or Veterans min.

Rajon Rondo - Dare we go back to the well. I love this fit but does Danny or Brad?
Tony Allen - TA ! defense. defense. defense. back to the well again !
JJ Reddick - Threes and D
Vince Carter - Threes off the bench maybe hoping to chase a ring with us.
Zach Randolph - High on my list.
Andrew Bogut - Maybe he doesn't spurn us this time. Maybe he doesn't get injured first touch.

Full MLE on Deadmon. We need bigs. How much is the full MLE worth these days?
Good assessment:

$8.4 for non-taxpayer; $5.2 for taxpayer; $4.3 for room MLE.

I'm down for everybody on this list. Would love to have rondo back. I am still a big fan of his game and he has shown he still has alot to give and we know he will show up in the playoffs.

A number of posters were eviscerating Ainge for not trading for PJ Tucker last year, I'd say he's a guy to look at with MLE. It actually might be a good idea this time.

Just look at the roster turnaround that is about to happen, in case we got Hayward alone.

Out: Olynyk, Young, Green, Johnson, Mickey, Jackson, Zeller, Jerebko, Rozier* (outside chance Rozier stays if Hayward took around 700k less than the max.

Out if we add George's expiring: Bradley, Crowder, Rozier (now he is def. gone), maybe Smart if Pacers get greedy (though not neccessary to get deal done).

Trade Bradley and Jackson together for future pick, which allows you to sign Hayward and keep Olynyk's cap hold.
Sign Olynyk for a declining contract starting at $14.3m.
Wait until December 15, and all you HAVE to trade for George to match salaries is Olynyk.

"Under the radar" free agent targets I'd be interested in: C - Jeff Withey, F/C - Willie Reed, G - Shelvin Mack

If Danny pulls a danny and we land George/Hayward, I assume that means we will lose all of Zeller, Olynyk, Crowder, Bradley, Green, Young (already gone), and likely Rozier/Jerebko.

The sole focus of any remaining money ought to be used at the 4/5 spot. I see

Thomas (32), Smart (16), Jackson (0)
PG13 (32), Smart (8), Jaylen (8)
Hayward (32), Jaylen (16), Nader (0)
Tatum (24), Ojeley (?), Yabusele (?), Theis (?)
Horford (28), Zizic (16?), Theis (?), Yabusele (?)

as our cheap-0 roster pre-vet ring chasers. Clearly, we could use professional minutes at the 4/5 unless we want to ride on the potential/improvement of rookies. 24 minutes for Tatum at the 4 is quite ambitious and we may be a year or two away from him actually being able to contribute there (although the ongoing trend toward smaller 4/5s may help this).

To be clear, this is not a proposed depth chart, but likely what ainge will be staring at post PG/Hayward. Let us pray for Zbo.

I bet they find a way to keep Rozier. They love Rozier.

At the free agent meetings, they'll just pass around a little wicker basket with a piece of paper saying "Rozier" attached and ask for donations.

Here's what happens if we trade Crowder/Zeller/pick for George:

IT/Smart/Rozier
Bradley/Jaylen/Kadeem Allen
George/Tatum/Nader
Horford/Olynyk/Yabusele/Ojeleye
Amir/Zizic

Or, renounce Amir/KO and give 12 million to Jamychal Green:

IT/Smart/Rozier
Bradley/Jaylen/Kadeem
George/Tatum/Nader
JaMychal Green/Yabu/Ojeleye
Horford/Zizic

And you can still trade Bradley or IT - or package both for Khris Middleton to delay contract problems:

Smart/Rozier
Middleton/Jaylen
George/Tatum
Green/Yabujele
Horford/Zizic

It's actually lower risk, higher reward to do a George deal now.
