But yeah, when you look at the context, its just another reason to like the guy. Dude just hit a game winner and is making sure everybody knows he wasn't the hero. Awesome.

Tbf I was at the game. I think anyone else who was there will tell you it wasn't your typical summer league game.

Idk, am I the only one who thinks he comes off like a massive douche in the post game interview?

I do love the couple verbal jabs he throws at Philly though lol, "This in between the seasons stuff, it's a process. Trust the process man."

I actually love that he is with the Nets now, everyone is showing so much love. In the Lakers forum half the people would be hating on him even after he hits a gamewinner.

Other than a couple of crazy Lin fans, he will get nothing but love on this forum without ridiculous expectations early on. Most guys on here get it. We're rebuilding, he's young, he'll have his lumps but thats ok. As far as the locker room goes, the kid will be embraced by the whole crew. From Marks to Kenny to Lin to the youngins, if he buys in, he'll get plenty of love. Exciting times.

I'm glad we have Russell because he's kind of crazy. Every team needs one (and only one) crazy dude, and without the trade we'd only have a bunch of choir boys in LeVert, RHJ, Allen, Lopez, etc

It could read that way ... :-)

My take is that D'Angelo is not very media savvy and almost naive in how he handles the media. But that he is actually a pretty intelligent and good kid. I agree with Lin's statement that he seems to have a good heart. Just somewhat immature / unskilled when it comes to media interactions - in fact I think Jarrett Allen seems more mature in some ways even though younger

Watching some of DAR's press conferences in LA was like watching sports writers trying to interview Kurt Cobain :-)

It's early of course, but Dloading is doing all of the right things so far. I gotta believe he's gonna have success as a co-guard this year (most likely with more emphasis on scoring than JLin's point-guard-type duties, and with Dloading's skill set why the hell not?!)

Just put in the work on defense, young man.

Lakers fan here, I've been rooting for this guy to be a Laker since December of his freshman year at Ohio state. I've been advocating for him extensively, even though the board was all in on Okafor's balls early on, until Draft came around and some guys swayed their opinion, but most preffered Okafor anyway.

We did a terrible job of developing him, we never gave him a real shot to thrive. Byron Scott used to put him in his doghouse for little mistakes every **** rookie does. Walton didn't do a better job either, splitting his minutes with clearly less talented players in Lou Williams and Jordan Clarkson.

The only reason he did get to you, is that we didn't treat him like we should have, based on his basketball skills and other personnel we had. If we had put the ball in his hands, and played him as much as he deserves(starter minutes), he would have still been with us, because his production per minutes played is some of the best in NBA history, at his age. He's in elite company there.

We **** up, and I'm hoping with all my heart you guys won't, and that he'll thrive with you. You deserve a break after all that green douche fiasco, and I have my own agenda with all the rats on the Lakers board, who think this was a good deal and Russell being gone is actually a plus.

If you're ready, Kenny Atkinson and the players have PLANS for you, Dloading.

The guy was born in 1996.......

Random question: does he have the Euro step?

Wish so badly he was still a laker. I get why we let him go, don't really agree with it but in either case you guys got an awesome player.

Russell will see his true potential here. Mark my words, he will be a star here. I have zero doubts, only injury can hold him back

yeah, that's one thing too...he's kind of loose with it. not to the point where he's getting into legal trouble and stuff, but he's definitely no choir boy. doesn't mean he's a bad guy either. we need a guy that will not only buy in, but have some edge and not be afraid of the big moments.

One thing I do expect is that he will make an effort to defend. I think defense is 85-90% about effort. Even if he gets burned at times, I still expect him to get up and defend. Lin, LeVert, RHJ all play both ends of the floor. he's going to have to buy in, feed off of that energy. we get our hands dirty over here.

yea DLo has a pretty polarizing personality that can rub people off the wrong way.

As for the defense, he is capable, like you said its all about effort.

I'm sure of it, also.....I'm still angry as **** he didn't get the Devin Booker treatment(big minutes every damn game, even though he played poorly sometimes). That's how you **** develop a talented young player.

Russell >>>> Booker, and this would be a non argument if the two had gotten the same chance.

With his chip on his shoulder, the proverbial 3rd year jump and if you make this "his team", this is Harden(first year jump from Okc to Hou) per 36 mins all over again.

That's 24/5/6/1.5 per 36.

Quote me on that, I maintain my stance.

The "Devin Booker Treatment" might as well be the Kenny Atkinson experience.

I don't foresee him coming off the bench or any sort of "training wheels" routine. He'll be thrown into the fire with the regular starters.

If anything, if we land a max free agent wing player, it'll probably be Caris coming off the bench. Din / Skil / CLV / Booker / Allen backup unit would be potent.
