And once again have not denied a Celtics trade.

Im sure he's got first class tickets regardless
I could be wrong but I assumed the Celtics have a private plane or two and Danny Ainge would be flying in it if he were visiting an allstar level player he wanted to sign. If that assumption is correct then I'd guess that a tweet like the one above would almost certainly be false. But I could be wrong on my whole guess.
Yeah I remember the Tom Brady pics with our guys infront of the Jet before the KD meeting.

Re: The Pursuit of Paul George
If Ainge has spoke to PG's people and they have effectively told him that he's interested and sees a future here then you can throw in the LA pick if it needs to be done. If he hasn't though and is planning on testing FA and possibly bailing then no way should that be done.

Things change quickly in the NBA but going after George (with an extension) and signing Hayward never made much sense to me. It would have gutted the team and decreased flexibility too much in my opinion. I could see George as an alternative to Hayward. But who knows? Might be the best thing if this deal never happens. My two cents.

I dont buy the extension thing. I do buy that he is interested in sticking around. But yeah the cap gymnastics of doing an extension is too much

Ab can get them one first rounder, also crowder+ our 2 picks...thats 4 pick, one could be top 3 in 2019 as sacramento pick.
We should not include that pick
PG is a top 10 player. I'll be sick if we lose him over a draft pick, particularly a non bkn pick
George is very good but he's not a top 10 guy anymore.

Windhorst and Stein both just threw ice cold water on the George to Cleveland rumors.....funny since stein was one of the guys that broke the "story"
Says other teams are going after George hard including Boston

He can still go toe-to-toe w/ LBJ and with this Celtics team he can win it all.

I agreed with this in February, but I think he raised his game from March on. Probably top 10-ish.

This. Put him on this team which would win 60 games and he'd be considered a top 10 guy again. Depth and flexibility never won anyone a title, raw talent does. If they can get him without coughing up a net or laker pick it's a no brainer provided he signs the extension

Its in Indiana's best interest to keep drumming up interest to try to milk the best offer they can get. PG effectively crushed their value, but through competition Indiana can drive the value back Up, if Boston and Ainge already have spoken and are close on a deal but have to wait you will continue to hear PG stories with Cleveland (Boston's biggest competitor) and others to squeeze as much out of Boston as possible

Re: The Pursuit of Paul George
If you "try" to look at this from a logical point of view, I would have to think that Ainge has his offer on the table and has informed Indiana that the deal can only be official after we either sign Hayward OR strike out on Hayward and Griffin. In the meantime, the Pacers are probably still fielding offers to try to get Ainge to increase his offer if something comes along from another team that is more enticing to them. I would have to think if the Pacers DO get a better offer, they would come back to Ainge and let him know. Otherwise, that type of a situation might burn bridges for potential future dealings between the franchises.
If I'm Pritchard, I have told Ainge, "Yes, we will probably take our offer once your offer dominoes fall into place, however, I'm not going to stop taking calls on George in the meantime. If something comes up that is better for our franchise, I'll let you know." It isn't like George's value is going to continue to drop when Ainge has an offer on the table and has told Pritchard that the offer is in good after FA begins. That means Indiana doesn't HAVE to move him ASAP. They can wait the week its going to take to get to FA and in the meantime see if something else shakes loose with another team.
That would be the right way to do business. Whether these GMs do business like that, I have no idea. It just seems to me you would get back to Ainge, if you get a better offer for George, and give him the opportunity to try and match it. Especially in the case where Boston can absolutely match any other offer out there with better assets.
With regard to the extension talks, I don't think Boston wants an extension done before he's traded because as its been said numerous times on here, that gives the Pacers leverage to get a larger haul for him. Boston has probably done the due diligence through back channels, etc. to know whether George is interested in an extension here. Why not wait for him to get here to do it so you don't have to give up more assets to acquire him?

A couple Big ifs:
1. No LAL/SAC or Brooklyn pick
2. Extension

A much more concise description of what I think is going on than what I posted right below this. Well done.

Yeah I don't do the deal without Hayward or having the extension in place. I'd be willing to include the laker pick if necessary but that would sting I have to admit.

I think you have to judge a guy by a whole season, not the closing stretch. The Nets made that mistake with D-Will and the KG/Pierce trade.
