Ricky Rubio is on the block for shooters. What would you want in return with Rubio for TJ and McRoberts.

Draft him to play PF when he played 100% Center in College and can't pass/dribble/shoot, idk. Hard for me to believe that was the selling point in drafting him
He hasn't been asked to showcase his skill much from what I've seen in college, but from what you can see in workouts and some highlights, he has a lot more skill and coordination than Joel Anthony. I think he can hit mid range jumpers next year

This team had a 41 game sample size of being the best team in the EC, a 30-11 record in the 2nd half of the season which included going 15-5 vs playoff teams. People can cry "sample size" all they want but 41 consecutive games is in fact an objectively sufficient sample size
So how did this team dominate? Some seem to think it was a fluke or that we caught lightning in a bottle. It wasn't and we didn't, this team is legit talented and the depth is scary good. Go down the roster and notice that no team in recent memory has been as stacked from 4-9 as Miami was in 2017:
4 - James Johnson
5 - Tyler Johnson
6 - Wayne Ellington
7 - Josh Richardson
8 - Rodney McGruder
9 - Luke Babbit
This^^ doesn't even take into account low-minute yet effective reserves Ed Weed and Okaro White. Nor does it include _ustise who despite his shooting issues still promises to be an impact role player at the very least
This is arguably an unprecedented level of substantive deep roster depth in NBA history. This alone guarantees a healthy regular season record
So from 4-9 we're the best in the league. 1-3 isn't a big 3 on the level of LeBron/Wade/Bosh, but a trio of Whiteside/Dragic/Waiters at the top of the roster is an impressive compliment to the strength in numbers from 4-9. Both Whiteside and Dragic are all-star caliber players who consistently deliver all-star caliber production and and Dion is a wild card that flashes greatness here and there
Put it all together and this is a 50-55 win team
^this right here
Everybody needs to relax. It's very evident the people who tuned out after the bad start. If you watched this team play in the 2nd half you know the success was no accident. Miami wasn't just beating teams, they were blowing them out.
Our second unit was devastating teams

Re: Miami HEAT Offseason/Trades/FA Thread: Sardine Central
It's pretty remarkable to observe the shift in mentality of the average Heat fan today.
The 04 Shaq trade, and the Summer of 2010 haul is now the standard, and anything beneath that isn't worth the trouble. Just go ahead and tank. Avoid the dreaded "Treadmill".
Patience for growth from with-in? What's that?
Either give me the instant gratification or just tank. James Johnson? Dion Waiters? OMG Riley has completely lost his touch. Time to retire. And while we're at it, Let's proclaim 20 year old versatile wing defenders as BUST, since they aren't shooting 40% from 3 on 5 attempts a game out the gate. While playing thru injuries.
This is what we doing? Good lord I hope not.

I like Rubio.
Then trade Goran for PG.
Sign Hayward or Blake.

Rubio off the bench would be cool, but no way will the Teen Wolves want tj and his contract and mcbob without taking picks in return.

He is a great passer and facilitator. He'd be dishing dimes to all and sundry. Dragic would just get in the way with PG13 and Blake/Hayward with Whiteside.

Rubio starts, TJ off bench.
Rubio averages 10 points a game...but creates a lot of offense for his teammates. I think it could work hif.
Injury history worries me. He's played 75 and 76 games the last two seasons, but he missed a lot of time prior to that. I wonder if he's in great shape or not?
Wolves would love having Dragic/Wiggins/Butler with Towns in the middle. They would be playoff bound. We'd need a first for that trade.
Where's GopherIt?
Edit: I take that back. The only way is be fine with Rubio is if we DON'T lose Dragic. Rubio is one of the worst finishers in the NBA.
