I'm not saying I believe SAS but if you believe that Pop wanted Frank and was trying to trade Aldridge to get in the lotto to get him..

Leonard for KP and Frank sounds like a spurs jump start to rebuilding given the idea they are much better at player development and get a budding star in KP.. if they can send Aldridge away in a separate deal for a mid to late first rounder and picked Luke Kennard type.. they could start building and be ready in 2-4 year

If the Spurs offered Kawhi and we said no, Phil needs his ass beat.

I don't know why, but that made me snort laugh.

This dude is completely full of it. His only goal is to turn fans against Phil. Probably because he's so tight with Isiah.

This is 100% an absolute lie lol This might be the most ridiculous rumor I've ever heard. There probably isn't one person in the entire NBA with more value than Kawhi. He's young, the best 2-way player in a long long time, an MVP candidate and on a great contract. They would need KP and 3 first round picks to consider it.

Yeah, Kawhi is a top player in the league, and far better than what we'd be giving up, but the supporting cast we'd have is not nearly enough to go anywhere
We'd be a mid-40s win team for a couple years til Kawhi left, then start rebuilding again
Essesntially, you're kicking the rebuild 5 years down the road to get a couple mid-seeded playoff teams

Kawhi ain't old. You sound insane. Walk KP down there for Kawhi.

When did I say he was old?
Melo wasn't old when we traded for him either
Melo was 26 when we traded for him. Kawhi will be 26 in a few days
2 stars in their primes
It didn't work the first time, what makes you think it can work now?

Kawhi is far superior to Melo. Melo was never a superstar. Very few reach that level. Kawhi is without any doubt, a superstar... and only getting better. His defense and offense are both at elite levels. Someone like him wins wherever he goes. He's reached that level.

Because Kawhi is a much better player then Melo? You do know Kawhi won a championship with the Spurs as the lead dog , right ?

Their teammates and HC though...

SAS is lunatic. There is no way Spurs considered that even for a second.

Can't remember the source but, I remember the day after the draft I read that Pop had "considered" it but, decided against it. Not sure I believe Pop would make this move. Defensively he's the best and his offense has taken huge upswings. Who else is going to slow down Bron? Don't believe this, not at all.

Probably more ego massaging for Kristaps......look, we were looking at franchise cornerstones where you were concerned.

Doesn't sound like San Antonio style. They don't trade family. Kawhi is family.

Melo was a superstar too.
He didn't start losing until he got here and got old with no one else to lean on.

Actually, thinking about that makes me think we will do the same to Kawhi since we suck at roster building.

If the Spurs were willing to deal Leonard I'd be wary that there's something wrong with the guy that we don't know about. It just doesn't make sense that they would trade a guy who could be the best two way player in the league for the next 5-7 years.

Lol maybe the Spurs did offer Kawhi but as a joke to Phil. Pop & the boys probably heard the value Phil was asking for Porzingis & San Antonio made a call as a bunch of trolls to see what Phil would say.

Leonard is what Anthony would have been if he were also a top 5 defender in the league.

Spoiler:
and more efficient

He's one of the few guys you trade for and don't look back. You're off and running.
