Somebody tell Melo about the trade kicker. That should do it.

The Knicks could just counter by benching him, destroying Melo's value. If Melo wants to be a fool and drag this out, that is on him.

So lower his trade value even further when you're the team trying to trade him?

That's a stupid move.

And that's why I could see our brilliant FO taking this approach and failing miserably.

there are a bunch of people here who seemingly don't even care about what's good for the team or not. they just want melo punished. his crime, not living up to the expectations you had which probably weren't realistic to begin with.

Remember Phil had a trade for Melo but balked

He said similar things in regards to both players when it came to potential trades.

What trade did Phil have set for Melo but balked at it cause i definitely don't remember that??

I'll find the report when I get a chance but it said Phil had a deal in place but backed off.

Phil also had a chance to tell Melo he wanted him gone but instead asked Melo if he wanted to be here or not. I think this was before a game in Boston.

Phil's been all talk in regards to this trade Melo stuff.

He won't even entertain a buy out. I don't think he wants him gone, he just wants him to adapt.

Yeah i just wanna see the proof that he had a deal in place to trade Melo cause i don't remember it.

Melo Has Value there is no reason to not get something back for him.

off course Lebron would want a buyout. He screws Phil while doing his buyout contracts to allow high paid players to play on his team. Clown!! No buyout at all cost.Phil do not cave.

The way people ride for Melo makes me believe some of you would physically fight someone over him. I don't get it .

The way some of you are overwhelmed in hatred for Melo makes me think some would wish he got injured or even death upon him.

Oh wait that already happened.

I'm saying what Melo should do to regain the power in the negotiation. I want us to trade him so this is not about being pro Melo.

But anything not crapping on him is riding hard for him right?

Stupid observation.

So you're hoping Melo pulls the petty card and wait for someone to blink, just so he looks like the angel in the end. But how the heck is that helping anyone in this situation?! it's obvious more than ever these two parties need to part ways. Knicks are rebuilding, Melo is getting older. No need for pettiness. Just move on. Simple.

Exactly what I said.

Nope!! Phil could of been more friendly but he said nothing wrong. He told his best player he will be better off somehwere else. Lmao no chit he would. But he wants to wine about being told he should go to a winning situation. What a f'in loser. Noah contract was wack. Rose trade was meh. But you want to run away from the truth. Phil Jackson asked Carmelo the season before last if he wanted to stay. Melo said yes. So Phil Jackson had to do moves to win now. The best he can. But nooooooooo When Phil is finally trying to stop the band aid crap he's frowned upon. PMFJ is finally rebuilding the right way in NYC.

Im not sure the point you were trying to get across. A lot of tangents.

PJax has not been willing to rebuild and would of chosen the playoffs over the lottery pick in 2017.

Don't lie to yourself.

Nope I agree. The man made major mistakes and that was thinking Carmelo was a player to build around. Now both parties should move on but one all in is feelings.

No crime in him not waiving his NTC just as its no crime to have him come off the bench in a reduced role and Phil rejecting all buyout approaches. What's best for the team is him being traded. I'm a Knicks fan, not a Melo rider. Force him to waive the NTC or reduce his role until he does.

So teams would rather

pay Noah that ridiculous salary to sit on the bench, since he can't produce on the floor, as proven last year, but he'll gladly take the paycheck and loaf, who also has more years on his deal

versus

getting a guy who can actually help you win games, as proven last year, who also has the skillset to play in the modern NBA, who is also on a shorter deal?

Oh and he's more efficient than Noah.

It's not close. If I replaced the name Melo with player A and lined up everything, you'd say player A.

I don't get it? Are you saying Melo helps a team win games and proved it last year or am i misunderstanding what you're saying??

Did Melo help us win games last year? Yep. Did Noah? Nope.

It stems from who's a worse contract because this guy said Melo has the worst contract in the NBA - which is ridiculous since he's not even the worst on this team.

He's obviously planning on retiring cause he doesn't want to play outside of New York right?? What a joke. He's so mad at Phil that he'll do whatever he can to make sure we don't get anything for him in a trade but screw the fans who are the ones that get hurt out of this whole deal.

This is what pisses me off the most.

It's gotta to the point where I'd gladly accept a package of Austin Rivers, Crawford and whatever other crap the Clips would be willing to give us for Melo.

1. You dont know what trades were presented.
2. Off course he would want a buyout. He gets his money while screwing the team royally for the second time.

Phils reputation takes a massive hit if he waives Melo. You decreased his value and then were forced to waive a 2nd tier star, eating 50+million, keeping his salary on the cap, and getting no assets back. Phil should not even entertain that thought.

I'm ok with a buyout ONLY if he's leaving a lot of money on the table. I don't want to pay Melo really close to his full contract and let him walk to a contendor for nothing.
