I'm not, people couldn't wait to get their licks in
incredible. and more incredibly job from phil to have the fans turning on the best player instead of his bs work as a GM.

Best player on a losing franchise means nothing.
His career is on a downhill projection.
god shammgod wrote:the real truth is this hardly about melo. a lot of you hate athletes really. you hate their money, their fame, and what you perceive as an easier life than yours. and you're ultra critical of everything they do. someone likes to drink and smoke weed and they're a worthless thug. someone likes money, because that's so rare, and they're selfish. a 21 year old kid misses a meeting and now you're mad at him. you want them punished whenever the slightest infraction occurs. the truth is....u mad......yeah.....u mad.
Out popped Latrell Sprewell, 20 minutes late. Inside the Knicks' practice facility this morning, Coach Jeff Van Gundy and General Manager Scott Layden were waiting for him to arrive and provide an explanation for dropping off the radar and missing all of training camp. About 45 minutes later, Sprewell emerged and shrugged his shoulders, as if to say, ''Why all the fuss?''
While Sprewell understood the reason the team had to fine him for his unexcused absences at camp -- a penalty that could reach $40,000 -- he was not remorseful about his behavior. For one thing, he did not find his actions so strange -- not his failure to tell anyone of his plans to drive across the country after closing arguments last Monday in a civil suit he faced in California, or his refusal to return three day's worth of messages left by the Knicks.
''That's what agents are for,'' Sprewell said, referring to Robert Gist. ''There was no particular reason. I really didn't call anybody. I'm not denying I didn't call them back; I just didn't. I thought my agent knew. But it's not like I told him, 'I'm leaving at this time, and I'm going to do this.' I'm not blaming him; it's on me. I didn't really communicate to anybody. It's like, I'll get there; I'll be there. It was not like I'm ditching camp. I had to do the thing in court, and that was exhausting enough. Then, to have to drive.''
...
''This is me,'' said Sprewell, who has a $9.1 million annual salary. ''Me, I like doing stuff myself. It can take two weeks to ship stuff. If I can do it in a day, why wait?''

If he didn't have a NTC there are more teams that would be interested, that is the roadblock the Knicks face.
without question
if we could move him as we wanted he would have been gone
which is why he asked for the NTC and why its so shocking that Phil gave it to him and then acted like he didnt know it was a factor
phil is feuding with Melo and KP
not smart
Yep. Which is why Phil if he had a clue would just say, 'We will do our best to accommodate Melo's with any trade that doesn't include salary past 2018 and that meets league salary matching rules. We are asking for essentially nothing, just no forward looking salary commitments. If that can't be accomplished then he will join the rebuild, and we hope he understands and continues to be a great teammate.'
Done. Then it's clear the Knicks aren't holding anyone hostage and it cements Melo's value around the league with respect to his cap hit which is currently negative. Carmelo and his salary are massive negative value for his value as a winning player.

he's decline little by little the past 3 years, which haven't been good basketball. next year he'll be older, slower, and a little more diminished.
and as always, getting rid of melo IS addition by subtraction. get rid of him not matter what. you can't head into camp with him on the roster.
as usual you are dealing in half truths at best
next year is Melo's final under contract if he opts out
thats 25mil owed to him vs a waive or buy out of 50mil
coaches determine playing time
melo isnt a cancer to his teammates and if his play is so poor that should help the tank argument
you simply wait it out with Melo unless you can agree to something beneficial to the team
Melo wont want to sit here
he's playing chicken with Phil because Phil, like you and similar people, are impatient and foolhardy and might go so far as to waive an allstar and eat his contract rather than deal with him and be patient
You said the same things when we had Nutbury on the team. Be patient. Just wait we will turn things around. Everything is great, no need to tear it down and rebuild now. You were also Isiah's biggest fan and perfectly willing to watch and of course go down with the ship. bNo is right. Addition by subtraction.

but he's not dead weight. This is a different situation than Marbury. Marbury didn't do poo before the buyout and afterwards.
i still don't understand the point. you want to win more games ? or do you want to just punish him and embarrass him by playing lance thomas over him ? if you're rebuilding and you want to move on from him and he won't take less money, he won't, and it won't even help your cap situation anyway, what is the point ?

They're winning 30 games a year with him here. Does it matter?
nedleeds wrote:Greenie wrote:Sark wrote:
I would bet any amount of money the buyout would be contingent on him declining.
Why would he do that?
Read. He can't. A buyout will automatically include the option if the buyout happens before the exercise date. This is an NBAPA thing. That's why a buyout is pointless. I'd send him home to play Xbox and hope he is so miserable he declines the insane 2018-19 option. I doubt he ever would but maybe not playing for 2 years would be enough.

I could call you a non Knick fan too since you hate dude for non basketball reasons.
You have been told many times of the basketball related reasons people like Melo.
He's still a great scorer whom mist be guarded whether he's on or off.
He can play both forward positions and is a solid interior defensive player and rebounder.
He can play off ball and on while being a viable bail out option.
He also doesn't become pussy when the game is on the line make or miss. He wants that moment.
Stop acting like you haven't been told these things.

Knicks fans, media, executives always want some player gone.
Its either our coach D'Antoni-Woodson-Fisher, 2nd best scorer JR, best young player Shumpert, best defensive player T.Chandler, best player Melo.
I'm not defending those guys but we used them as scapegoats.
Sending one player or coach wasnt enough to fix our team so far.
Now Phil-media-some fans use Melo as scapegoat.
He's not the problem right now. He played better than D.Rose and Noah.
Triangle didnt help to get more wins. Triangle didnt make any of our key players to perform at high level.
D'Antoni's system maximized Nash's, Lin's, Harden's game. How about triangle?
Now lets look at our situation:
We have multiple problems in our roster.
*Noah,
*Resigning Rose (It might happen Rosen called it)
*Coach
*System
*Phil's toxic comments, presence
Knicks need scapegoat.
If we buyout Melo people going to blame KP for losses. I'm calling it right now.
Media, fans going to hold KP responsible for any downfall. They'll keep writing about KP's weakness. Frank going to get some heat too.
If we let Melo play through his contract we wont lose anything.
As long as we use triangle as our offensive system we'll tank for good.
Melo is going to get blame for losses etc.
Senile old man Phil Jackson will focus on the fight with Melo.
That way KP and our young pack going to survive.

So at his age with no chip and our current circumstances, Those are the reasons he should stay? Clearly rebuilding but because he can score we should keep him. How does that benefit the team with the clear direction again?
I ask you what non basketball reasons I don't like the man for? I'm clearly on record for hating his terrible D and inability to make his teammates better. Stop making chit up in your head about how I feel. I'm a Melo fan gone correct. His inability to alter his game into a team environment has finally pissed me off.
So calm yourself about me not liking him for non basketball reasons. You can't prove that. So doing it to amuse yourself must feel good right? Anything to avoid facts. Foh
