I'm still shocked at how much Melo sucks compared to what I thought we were getting initially. I was expecting someone that literally was the kryptonite to LeBron. Someone that dominated the game offensively and played well enough in other areas. ESPN highlights threw me for a loop. The dude sucks. Zero D, zero creation, can't get by his man anymore, can't jump, destroys any and all team chemistry, runs coaches and players out of town, attracts literally no talent to the club. He's a bum.

Now he wants a buyout? LOL. He can fester on the bench for the next two years. Hell, send him to the D-league. I wouldn't bend an inch with this punk. Staying close to his son might be #1 priority, but everything is a negotiation. If the Knicks cut him today and agreed to pay him every cent they owe him, I have a hard time believing he'd retire (or play for the Nets) to stay close to his son. He'd be on the next flight to Cleveland.

yeah it's a terrible idea to knuckle under to him for a buyout. if he feels trapped then good for the knicks-- they have leverage. we are going to have to be overpaid in any trade. if other teams thinks he is a good fit to help win now, then high 1st round picks are the only logical pieces to demand in return.

he should think about changing his role on the knicks as a backup plan, be the good soldier and accept a sixth man role. that would be the grownup thing for melo to do if a trade is not in the knicks' favor.

Again, y'all missing the point, I'm not trying to say Melo is responsible for Noah's contract

But Melo did say he would waive the NTC if Phil told him we were rebuilding. Phil told him we would rebuild at the end of the 16 season, and Melo declined to waive the NTC. Phil then figured if he couldn't move Melo, he'd try to make the playoffs one more time, because he still thinks Melo is a good player, so the Rose, Noah, and Lee moves happened

We gave up two draft picks. 2. The 3rd was a swap. We gave that pick to Toronto in a separate trade. Those picks were supposed to be late rounders too but we executed whatever plan we had badly.
