KT put it best
If PJax got fired tmrw and the next GM literally did nothing, he would of done a better job than PJax.
- no bad contracts handed out
- no trading for bad contracts
- we still get another lottery pick
If PJax is rebuilding he'll accomplish #3 without needing to do 1&2.
Let's see if he does it

I like his premise. I just don't think we have the roster to make it work.
We do have a roster that could make a Melo KP 4/5 combo work though IMO.
We know that but Phil doesn't.

Sit defense in front of them and let them carry the scoring.

do you really believe a GM hired would be allowed to do "nothing"? He probably would have ever more of a threat to win and make the playoffs to Dolan after Phil. So that means future 1st round picks would def be on the table.

It's likely going to be a very long time until we see a NTC handed out again for anybody but a top 2 or 3 talent.
It's hard as fuq to qualify for one.
Pretty much third contracts and up with the same team right (4 years with team, min 8 in league)?

melo being schrewd negotiated a trade kicker to give him back the money if he were to ever allow a trade, but until he allows it he is a knick and the only to get rid of him with out his permission is to cut him and pay him every red cent he is owed .
Melo had a WS48 of 0.86 last season, well below an average player. For comparison, Kevin Love's WS48 was 1.63, meaning he contributed almost twice as much to his team than Melo did.

And give WHG 25-30 off the bench to play with either at PF for stretches. Could of had a fun squad.

Deflecting?
You said because of A, B happened.
I tell you B would of happened regardless of A and gave you proof of the interest PJax had.
Then you say wel that wasn't my main point.
You're the one deflecting. Not me. I stuck to what I said. You are not.
And if you had bothered to read my response to FPJax, you would have read that I agree with you on Phil probably wanting to bring Noah in regardless of Melo
Melo wanted to stay despite saying he wouldn't, so we decided to accomodate him by making win-now moves. This is not blaming him for the actual moves Phil made, but by reneging on his promise, he set the direction. Melo makes us too good to tank, so Phil wanted to try to make the playoffs. It didn't work.
And talking highly of a player you just got isn't "proof," it's standard procedure
So Melo is blameless for everything despite going back on his promise then, because he doesn't make the moves himself?
Phil takes the L for the actual moves, Melo gets it for refusing to do what he said he would
Fair enough.
in the knicks final 2 seasons under woodson they were 91-73 .
so phil fired him.
since then they are 80-164
every year since woodson the knicks were supposed to compete for the playoffs ...they just didnt make it and truthfully if you look at the rosters the talent isnt that different ....if anything last season's team was probably the most talented team the knicks have had since the 54 win team .
Its because I'm green isn't it?

Re: official Melo trade speculation - thread 2
This situation is really simple. Does anyone actually think that we're going to be a decent team this year??? Good, I don't either. Since that's the predicament that we're currently in, he has to go. Our interests are to rebuild. If Melo happens to play unbelievable (which I don't think will happen) and a bunch of other stuff goes right, we'd get the 7th or 8th seed MAYBE. Who wants that?
Besides that, we now have a lot of young talent that we are planning the future around. Their development is priority 1, 2 and 3. If Melo were to stay and play (which he won't), he will eat up touches (and minutes) that would otherwise be given to KP and Willy. That can't happen. We need KP getting the ball at crucial spots and learning to become a go-to option. Even more importantly, we can't have Melo's bad habits infect the others. ISO ball, forced shots, breaking off the system, not running back on D, lackadaisical/lazy defense, etc. You can't have that on a young team. Instead, you need high energy veterans that are detail orientated. I don't know if Melo could be anymore further from that. Furthermore, we only want players that are willing to buy in 100%, learn the system, give defensive intensity and hate to lose. You seriously have to question if Melo hates to lose at this point with the Philly reports. We know that he loves to win but if he doesn't hate to lose, we don't need the young guys being around that.
If a reasonable deal doesn't transpire, then I am all for putting an end to this fiasco via waiver. It's just not healthy. You could blame Phil all that you want but he's going to be here all season. Even the most loyal of fans know that Melo doesn't fit in with his system, plan, etc. They just hope that Phil gets fired first. Well.. he's not going to. Ideally, we would be able to send Melo away from the team until someone gets desperate and is willing to give something up. However, since that's not really done in the NBA, they're likely to just let him walk. It's time to move on.

We need to start that. Walsh started this mess.
Went all in for LeBron trading assets
Signed STAT to save face
Made the trade for Melo
Wasted the amnesty
Traded a 1st for Barf
Fired Woodson
Traded Tyson for boo boo
Gave Melo a NTC
Attached JR in an Iman trade
Traded Timmy
Fired Fisher
Traded for Rose
Signed Noah
We need to sit still.

When Love was with Minny he had a WS48 of .245 in his last season (on a team that sucked). Melo's highest WS48 ever was .184 and last season it was a pitiful .089, less than an average player.
