Iguodala makes no sense for us or him. Probably a nonsense rumor.

Why? If anything, we should be taking on bad contracts + youth/picks to help other teams clear space.

My thought isc no long term deals, yeah I'm ok with bad expiring but nothing long. We will need to make a big offer to 1 or 2 players at some point.

This all day.

The Magic should use some of that 15-17M in cap space to absorb someone off a team looking to chase free agents.

Look at Houston, San Antonio, Denver, Minnesota, etc.

Some hypothetical ideas...

Spurs: Magic get Kyle Anderson or Dejounte Murray for taking Danny Green or Tony Parker
Nuggets: Magic get Emmanuel Mudiay, Juancho Hernangomez or Malik Beasley for taking Kenneth Faried or Wilson Chandler
Rockets: Magic get Sam Dekker, Montrez Harrell or Clint Capela for taking Trevor Ariza or Patrick Beverely

Exchange young players for 1st round picks as well. Stuff like that.

These are great proposals. Anderson and Murray are two young studs that would be great to fill out the bench, who could possibly grow into starters. Mudiay doesn't fuss me, Hernangomez is interesting - but Faried is actually the guy I'd want the most out of that deal. I love what he brings in energy and hustle. And all those Houtson players would be nice guys to pick up.

These are the kind of deals we need to be making. Reminiscent of the early days when we were flipping pieces for the likes of Harris and Fournier. We need to fill out our depth with more guys like that.

I posted a few of theses the yesterday in the Vuc thread. I've added a couple more I was thinking

Orlando send: Nikola Vucevic
Boston send: Jaylen Brown + Tyler Zeller

Boston get out of Zeller's contract a year earlier and replace him with Vucevic, they gain another weapon and option to score with.
Orlando get a young prospect, after drafting Tatum he is third in their depth chart. Orlando need talent and with moves he projects to back up Isaac

Orlando send: Nikola Vucevic + DJ Augustine + CJ Watson
Detroit send: Andre Drummond + Stanley Johnson + 2018 1st round pick

Detroit get out of the Drummond contract and gain a better player and a PG depth. Detroit could potentially take Fournier instead of Augustine and Watson if they weren't bothered about cap relief
Orlando get Stanley Johnson and a first round draft pick for giving up a better player and taking back a big contract

Orlando send: Terrance Ross + Nikola Vucevic
Utah send: Alec Burks + Dante Exum

Utah get an upgrade over Burk and a very good back up in Vucevic
Orlando take Exum as a back up PG with length

Orlando send: DJ Augustine + Evan Fournier
Minnesota send: Ricky Rubio + 1st round pick

Minnesota get their shooting in both players they want and a shooting starting PG. Fournier comes off the bench in his best role offering shooting and bench scoring
Orlando get a veteran PG to work with Payton and potentially take the starting position. They get a 1st round pick (Likely protected)

Orlando send: Nikola Vucevic + 2018 2nd round pick
Sacramento send: Ben McLemore (resigned and traded) + Willie Cauley-Stein + Garrett Temple

Sacramento get a starting center, they took Collins which suggest they are willing to move on from WCS, they also save $4-10M
Orlando gets 2 young prospects who haven't developed or been given time and take Temple's salary on for a season

WTF? :dontknow: We would need max money for Iggy, what are you smoking? He's not getting max.

Iguodala is asking for 20M per year if you believe the rumors.

Not a max, but an awful lot of money for a who turns 34 next season.

Oh damn

I doubt they'd do this, but if the Lakers REALLY want to get nuts and decide they want to be able to sign two max players in 2018, I'd take Brandon Ingram and Luol Deng for filler (Augustin/Hezonja/Watson)

Then immediately stretch Deng to spread his 54M over 7 years instead of 3.

With Boston, I think Crowder is their odd man out, not Brown. I'd still gladly do a Crowder + Zeller for Vuc + Watson deal.

Detroit deal, I'm not sure Drummond would work with the rest of our players, and I have my doubts he's a player worth building around. I wouldn't want to lock in that kind of cap space to him, personally.

Utah deal, I'd be pushing for Hood. Don't think Utah would want Vuc, though. But Ross/Fournier + Hezonja might swing them with scoring/shooting to replace Hayward, plus upside. Hood is a Middleton kind of guy, who I'd kill to have on this team.

Minny deal, I don't think they move Rubio unless they're able to get a ready-now PG like Hill or Holiday to replace him. Augustine isn't on that level, and Fournier would be a 6th man behind Butler/Wiggins. I don't think they're a good trade partner for us.

Sac deal, Vuc for WCS would be great in my mind. Would they do it?

I'm good with a Payton/Fournier/Gordon/Issac/Vucevic line-up, just letting all of our young assets play (yes, even Hezonja). Then, taking a look at what's out there at the mid-season point.

Minor moves before the season are fine, but paying big money for Iguodala seems counterproductive for both sides. The Magic FO needs to take it's medicine and do this rebuild the right way.

We obviously should have interest in Iguodola, he fits Hammond description of long, athletic, can defend multiple positions, versatile and shoot 3's. But I bet Iguoldola resigns with the Warriors. He be dumb to leave the warriors. If any of us were apart of the Warriors organization, we be having so much fun it be crazy fun.

I would be very surprised if Isaac's physically ready to start.

I'd begin him with Jeff Green's backup SF/PF minutes. See how he handles that and then progressively add more and more to his plate as he's ready.

Who's the 10 teams with cap space? I know we are one of them. I'm guessing Chicago Bulls thats 2. If we do a trade, I hope we do not take an aging veteran. Anybody we get here through trade should all fit the long, athletic, versatile, can defend multiple positions and shoot.

I have interest in Dejounte Murray and Kyle Anderson, maybe Aldridge but do not want Danny Green or Tony Parker

Nuggets- only players I want is Jamal Murray and Jokic but the nuggets made those 2 players untouchable

Rockets- Beverly be the only player I think i want.

It's possible that Iguodala is thinking the opposite. He's already won a pair of rings plus a Finals MVP. Maybe knowing this is going to be his last chance to really get a big contract, he's content to just chase the most dollars he possibly can.

Not everyone is motivated by the same things. Especially players that have already been to the top of the mountain.

That said, I wouldn't sign him if I were the Magic.

I like this thinking! Great tank moves. Wonder how much value is actually attached to cap space
