Looks like this is our full roster. Interesting that we only have two guys coming directly out of college (Kennard and Willis), rest are mostly D.. err G-Leaguers, or some international league.

We're looking for our two-way contracted players that need to be better than your run of the mill UDFA's because they could play NBA minutes. Given we're in lux tax range, I could see us carrying only 13 NBA contracted players (minimum roster size) and then using the two 2-way/swing contract players which don't count against NBA cap.

Lorenzo Brown vs Pierre Jackson for our #3 point guard on a 2-way contract? Hollis Thompson on 2-way contract or Mike Gbinije at $1.3M?

Two-way players can only spend 45 days on an NBA roster though. I don't think that's a viable route to fill out the end of the roster. Teams can carry up to 17 players with the addition of two-way contracts now as well so only having 13 guys on the roster wouldn't make a ton of sense. I think the Pistons will carry 14 or 15 guys with the two-way players as emergency reserves who have some interesting potential.

We never try a homerun with an undrafted. Why?

Is there a minimum call-up period? Or can it be called up game day, demoted right after game = one day on roster burned?

I'm gonna predict Jackson beats out Brown and will be our 3rd PG (baring a late cut similar to Udrih signing.)

MG gotta have a strong showing imo.

I think Lorenzo gets the edge as he's a lot bigger guard and knows our systems and coaches. I could see Jackson being one of our swing contracts though - he'll probably look better to us in the Summer League as it's much more free wheeling whereas Lorenzo is trying to show himself a good systems guy knowing his role as a 3rd PG.

None that I can find, but I believe that guys actually have to be called up to practice with the team. So they would also be days counted towards the limit. Van Gundy isn't throwing anybody onto the court that hasn't practiced a decent bit with the actual team.

The more you think about it the less useful two-way contracts seem. At the very least it's a limited process. Still a step in the right direction and NBA teams retaining their rights while in the G-League is still a huge deal, but for on-court NBA purposes it's not a huge deal. I'm thinking more like emergency injury depth and guys who will be brought up just for the sake of being brought up the last couple weeks of the season similar to September callups in the MLB.

i can't remember where SVG said it but he alluded to not wanting to have too many rostered players on the summer league team because it would dilute their touches.

Stan said he wants Johnson working on individual skills this off-season, like he wanted last off-season but Stanley knew better and wanted to play and was allowed to play in Summer League and then played in the Drew League as well. He's allowed to practice and scrimmage with SL team because SVG likes the idea of Johnson being the veteran of the group and taking on a mentor and leadership role.

I'm actually pretty excited to watch this. Want to see how Kennard defends as the coaching staff has been praising his footwork down there. Also need to see if Ellenson looks like he can crack the rotation
