Agreed. I'm not giving up big assets for him. If we could get him for the expiring contracts and maybe Jabari I'd consider it if it would get it done (I love Jabari...but that knee).

I think people are really underrating how good a Beverly/Middleton/Snell/Giannis/Jordan lineup would be. With Delly/Brogdon/Thon off the bench? Sign me up. That team **** wrecks other rosters on the boards and defense, while still having plenty of shooting.

Paul - Harden is going to be devastating. Their individual numbers (particularly Harden's) will take a hit. Houston doesn't have a ton of room to get better and their ceiling is #2 in the West, but this could bring them into a dead heat with the Spurs. And the offseason has barely begun.

As for the Bucks matching this offer -- this trade was totally dependent on Paul exercising his PO, i.e.: he had control over where he went. This was not a race, it was an edict.

I mean I wouldn't hate it if we traded for DJ, that'd be awesome, but I'd much rather trade for a scoring PG. I don't see a future for DJ here and I have high hopes for Thon. Not to mention he could be gone after one year.

Right, if the cost is an expiring contract, Jabari, and a first round pick likely to be in the 20s I'm not too concerned about it. Anything more and I start hesitating. But of course I'm in the 'I don't want to give Jabari 20mil per' camp, unlike most here. As long suffering as we've been here that team would make for a heck of a fun season with a good chance at ECF where anything could happen.

This is what I'm seeing for sure. They ran their offense entirely through Harden because that was their best option. I don't see why he can't play some off the ball SOME and not have their entire hope riding on him 100% of the time.

They both personally have to give up the ball a little bit but I think Harden would be okay getting a third of his points off easier looks being set up for him by Paul instead of having to grind his way to the hoop/line for everything. That had to wear him down and he sucked in the playoffs. Plus, both guys can shoot so I don't see it as a huge disaster fit wise as long as both are willing to mesh together. Ego more of a concern than bball fit and I'm sure both guys are well aware that will be the case.

Having the ability of having just about every possession of a game maestro'd by Harden or Paul is genius imo and will be exhausting on opposing teams and will have the opposite effect for Harden. I love it.

Outside of Westbrook, nobody meant more to their team's offense than Harden. After seeing him completely poop out against the Spurs, I'm sure he'll welcome somebody to take some of the pressure off.

Wow, are the Clips in a shambles all of a sudden. They're not going to get anything good for Blake, Paul, or DJ. At least they have their own picks.

Still don't think they are done yet, have to think they are trying to make a run at Paul George

I'm not sure of the fit either, but one positive is they'll be able to manage their minutes better. Harden won't have to lead the league. So each should play about 15 mins without the other, and 20 together. It should be fine as they'd have to be morons not to stagger their minutes.

This. Both can pass, both can shoot, Harden has played off the ball before and with his ability to to draw fouls you can still draw up ways for him to get to the line in a set started by Paul, should be able to get Harden in easier situations to drive and finish/foul. Both will obviously have to defer more than they are ever used to doing but I think they both have been ball dominant at times where that's what makes most sense for their teams.

Any trade we do that isn't for a top 15 player involving Parker, Monroe's expiring, and a future first has to include any combination of Delly, Telly, Henson for me to get on board.

Not trading Parker and Monroe who is actually a decent player with a wonderful expiring contract for DeAndre Jordan who leaves us in a year. Now take out Parker...I do it. Switch Monroe for the three overpaid amigos and I do that.

I think the kicker is that CP3 outright said he'd sign with Houston in FA. Surely that diminished his value to other teams who didn't wanna risk valuable assets on a rental.

Obviously great move by Houston but I'm not convinced they are even better than the Spurs with this deal. CP3 on the spurs would be way more interesting

Rockets just added CP3 to a 55-win team. Agree to disagree that they didn't just get substantially better. If Morey actually manages to swing a deal for Paul George? Look out.
