Re: Chris Paul to the Rockets
I'm shocked CP3 went to the Rockets, I thought he was going to Spurs or staying with Clippers. Good for you guys that you get a guy like Sam Dekker and a 1st round pick. Beverly not a offensive player but can definetly play defense.

Eaves Spills on Behind the Scenes
Here's some information on the Chris Paul trade. First the MICRO:
Paul's relationship with Doc Rivers started to deteriorate rapidly after the Clippers acquired Austin Rivers. Several members of the team felt Austin acted entitled because his dad was both the coach and the President of Basketball Operations. In the view of the tenured players, Austin Rivers never tried to fit in, and when players tried to address the situation with him, he still did not respond the way the core of the team wanted him to. It led to resentment within the locker room, which often played out during games. One of Paul's biggest contentions with Doc was that Paul, and other players, felt Doc treated Austin more favorably than other players. He would yell at guys for certain things during games and practices, but not get on Austin in the same manner for similar transgressions.
But what really solidified Paul's dissatisfaction with Doc was a proposed trade involving Carmelo Anthony last season. New York offered Carmelo and Sasha Vujacic to the Clippers in exchange for Jamal Crawford, Paul Pierce and Austin Rivers, a deal to which Rivers ultimately said no. That event led Paul to feel that keeping his son on the roster was more important to Doc than improving the team. So, ultimately, Paul lost both trust and faith in Doc. As one league executive put it, "Chris despises Doc."
(I was also told that when Paul met with the team to inform them of his plans, Jerry West was not in attendance. It was only Doc and Lawrence Frank.)
MACRO
This move is a win-win for Chris Paul, and it was all part of a master plan. By opting into the final year of his current contract and pressuring the Clippers to trade him to Houston, Paul will be in the exact same situation next summer. He can re-sign with the Rockets for 5 years and $200+ million or sign a 4-year deal for about $150 million with another team. In addition, he will save several million dollars in state income tax.
Also, by being committed to the Rockets for only one season, it gives him a year to see if he can actually co-exist and pursue a title with James Harden. But even beyond that, this move gives Paul more flexibility to join LeBron James in 2018. If he stayed in LA or signed the max deal with the Clippers and forced them to do a sign-and-trade with the Rockets, Paul and LeBron could only join forces at one location. Now, they will have the ability to pick and choose wherever they want to go as a tandem, which could be Houston, LA {Lakers or Clippers (provided Doc is no longer with organization)}, or any other destination in-between.

If this is true, we all know which change needs to be made and needs to be made now. If it's done right, there's still a chance to reload for 2018, which for me is infinitely preferable to any hypothetical rebuild. It should probably be made anyway regardless of what CP3 does in 2018.
I root for players always, organizations sometimes.
I don't know how I'm ever going to forgive the Clippers' new front office.

Re: Eaves Spills on Behind the Scenes
So I was in the right direction. Nepotism did play a huge role in the Clippers demise. Doc Rivers really cared more about the family name than doing the right thing. And now Doc Rivers is about to face his greatest fear ever: a rebuild.
Clippers have one year to get rid of him if they want Chris Paul back.
But will he want to come back?

Could this lead to Rivers resigning or getting fired? Would he resign if you guys trade Rivers somewhere and he doesn't agree to it?

If Doc stays it will be Austin Rivers. Doc pushed Paul out so he could make Austin a starting PG. Too bad Ballmer is too dumb to see this.

bad sarcasm.
he has money to spend. a lot of it. more than any other owner in the NBA. so buying what he wants because he has money, does make him a good and smart owner. is that your insight?
he didn't stop Doc to give that contract to Jamal, or Austin when he had opportunities to do so. he also extended Doc's contract when he already was under contract for 3 years.
also I worked for Microsoft for short amount of time, and pretty much who had a long tenure there told me he was not a competent CEO and was not able to steer the company the right direction. You can tell how much Microsoft has improved since he has been replaced by Nadella.
my only hope is that he'll keep his wallet open but let people like West make decisions, and not Doc or himself.

We could've added Melo to the team??? For just Austin, Crawford and Pierce? And Doc said no?!! I wanted him gone before the season. Now I despise the man, just like CP.

I for one trust Jerry West. He just straight-up fleeced Morey for a guy the Rockets could have signed outright later this week. The Rockets are still a second-round exit waiting to happen. Can't wait to see CP3's reaction when it dawns on him that he actually has to play off-ball, not just talk about it, and he's not allowed to take midrange shots or dribble out the shot clock anymore.

Could you guys imagine what would have happened if Doc still had all the power this offseason? We would have lost CP3 for nothing.

But who has the final say on personnel? Sounds like it was Doc who met with CP3 at the end before trading him.
Anyways, Rockets had to dump players to fit CP3 under their cap. The only advantage in a trade for CP3 is that the super max deal is still in play next season. But I still wonder if any team will give a 5-year 200 million deal to a player who will be 37 or 38 at the end of that contract.

my point is that he's making moves to progress the franchise which include separating the clippers from staples and hiring highly qualified people like jerry west to provide more than one source of expertise than from just doc rivers. these are what you call smart moves, regardless of his tenure at microsoft.
i'd say what he's actually done so far and the track he's currently on speaks a whole lot more about his being smart or at least making smart moves, compared to just your whining that he's "too dumb to see" things.

Re: Chris Paul to the Rockets
While everyone else is hyper-ventilating, I'm feeling like we won the trade.
Well, technically, Houston won the trade because they got the best player in this deal...but we got 4 guys who could start, 3 reserves, and a draft pick -- I'm not feeling like a loser right now.
CP3 is still my favorite player and I thank him for the last 5 years -- and I thank him again for helping us get this haul on his way out.
If Blake re-signs, we'll still be a 4th or 5th seeded playoff team...except now we'll have a little more flexibility to improve going forward.
It's a good time to be a Clippers fan.
